Kudos to the 4H in Gilpin!

We went to the Gilpin County Fair here recently. It's a small event, but hey, it's a small county. They did a great job with it.

The 4H Club had a place where kids could shoot air rifles and high scores got prizes. So cool. The guy running the show had so much patience with the kids. He was good with showing them how to shoot properly too, and safety was paramont. Glasses, etc.

How many Metro commnities would have this? Maybe some, but can you imagine the faces of the Obamanistas when they saw it?[Eek3]

Shooting Sports has been a big part of 4H for many, many years!

Our 4H club (Falcon Ranchers) shoots at Ben Lomen club. They can shoot air, .22lr, and shotgun.

Speaking of 4H: proud Papa bragging on my daughter who again placed at the State Fair Dog Show a week ago!! 2nd in the State in Obedience last year and this year 5th & 7th in Rally with our two border collies, 13th in Showmanship!

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised! Good for them. I just couldn't imagine ANY rifles being allowed to be used in Denver anywhere. Legally that is. Especially by children with no license. [Shake]

Was at the Park County Fair last year. In addition to the 4H shooting stuff there was a project by an 11 year old girl who documented the building of an AR-15 rifle:


Here are some 4-H kid's entries into the Park County Fair.

First is a project entitled "Building America's Rifle" and it's a pictorial essay of the AR-15 Rifle assembly process done by a young lady named Olivia. Judging by her photos I'd say she's about 10 to 12 years old.

I don't think she won anything but I thought it was pretty impressive.

Even Boulder County sends several teams of young shooters to State Fair 4H Shooting Sports competitions each year. Several classes of small bore (.22), air rifle and pistol, archery, trap and skeet, muzzleloading. I was there for 12 years - now it's MY turn to shoot!!

El Paso county does archery at a lot of events to get kids interested. Both of my kids went to state for compound bow this year. I was so proud I bought the over priced t shirts for them.
