I just got a Beretta Xplor lite 12 guage with kick off for my wife. It has the 26" barrel. This gun is amazing, lighter than my older Beretta 390 20 gauge and it kicks less. I put the 5" Easy Hit sight on it since she is left eye dominate and she is hitting everything. We have let a few ladies shoot it that were looking for new guns and they couldn't get over how light it was and without the recoil. Its not cheap, Dicks matched a price of $1229 on it and the gun is beautiful. My wife was tired of being cheated with the 20 guage, less power and less bb's. I wouldn't have put it that way, but there is less shot and she is hitting the clays now.
I just thought I would post this as we had a friend buy a shotgun for his wife last month, a youth 870 pump 12 gauge. With the kick he will have to beg his wife to go shooting again, shoulder bruises suck. My wife shot about 100 rounds on Sat and wasn't sore at all.

When I was looking for a shotgun for my wife I went to Team USA/USA Olympic Shooting and asked the ladies there what they would recommend. This was around 1995.

They even offered to let her try different ones out.

Many suggestions for a Browning Ladies Gold Sporting Clays. In fact one of the ladies there had the prototype and helped design it with Browning... she shot one an loved it.
No recoil even with heavy 1 1/8 oz loads. Ported barrel, aluminum receiver. The weight is all in the stock to absorb recoil.

I have been caught shooting it for a round or too also. It is just so pleasant to shoot.
They are adjustable for comb and length of pull. There are also 2 pistons, one for heavy and one for light loads. It is a 2.75" only gun... no 3" or steel shells.

She has had it now for almost 18 years and still loves it. No problems,, no jamming. Great gun. Browning only made 20-50 per year so you will have to search to find one. Ladies "Sporting Clays" Golds and Ladies "Golden Clays" Sporting Clays Golds were made from 1995-2008. There are still some around to be found new in dealer's stocks.

My son got to shoot a Browning Citori sporting clays (or something like that) last Sat. It had ported barrels and he said it didn't kick anymore than his older Beretta 12 gauge. Absolutely beautiful gun. My brother has a Browning Gold Hunter, and loves it. No adjust-ability on that gun though.
Her Beretta isn't actually a ladies gun (shorter stock) but the kick off stock appears to be about an inch shorter than mine. The gun makers need to put out some light guns with shorter pulls on them and demo them at the gun clubs. I know some make a few ladies guns, but it wasn't very apparent when we were looking.
