I'll eventually change to a Battle Comp or something else, but I didnt like the Birdcage A2 style and I had heard a lot of good things about the Troy.

Fully realizing that it was a Muzzle Brake, I didnt fully anticipate how big the flash would be....its kinda cool, but utterly useless at night.. The ability to make consistent follow up shots is non-existent because the flash is so ridiculous bright and big... Even through optics its inse.

And yes....it is a Tactical flash lol, It disorients the enemy with the giant flash lol

Why don't you test out the aac 51t breakout for me before I buy them? :D

I would imagine that the battle comp would have the same problem, and it is a comp, not a flash suppressor. I could be wrong though, I'm not up to speed on all the AR high tech mumbo jumbo these days.

You should see the flash out of my draco with no attachment, its like setting off an M-80 with each shot. Wouldn't want to do that in a car :p

The surefire flash hiders as supposed to be tits, always wanted to try one, currenlty running Phantom 2's on my AKs.

There is a thread a few hundred posts long on M4Carbine that would disagree with you.

And so would I, as mine has been great.

Any good suggestions on a happy medium between a brake and flash suppressor?

I put the aac-51T brakeout on my sig716 as motivation to get a can. Helped reduce felt recoil a lot but I can't speak to the FS part.

Nothing wrong with a flash suppressor. The recoil of an AR is really very minimal even with no muzzle device, no need to pick the pepper out of the fly shit. [Beer]

I just ordered the Spikes Dynacomp, should compare with some night shots.

True, and in my case, the AR-15, currently sporting a Vortex, will only get a different FS (AAC-51T) for a screw on can. In the case of the Sig716, a .308 battle rifle, the recoil, while nothing like a bolt gun, was a little harsh and needed taming for consistent follow up shots through glass. The AAC-51T combo brake/FS helped. Hopefully if I have to go dark, the can will be on it.
