Lots of things to say, but considering the source...it doesn't surprise me. The kenyan and his supporters just can't figure things out. I'm glad I went to a somewhat conservative college that didn't put up with this kind of crap from a student body perspective.

Symbolism only works if everyone involved is buying into the symbolism. Unless they were intentionally trying to be disrespectful (doesn't look like it) it seems a case of "the new guy don't know the rules the old guys play by." (Considering the 'education' you get in government schools these days, hardly surprising.)

Seems more like a case for outreach and education than consternation.

Edit: At first I thought some student body did this. If it was the official Obama prep team that changes the story, of course, but the logistics of ensuring a giant-ass flag like that never touches the ground must be impressive.

i love the recant on how the flag is laying on a tarp, just keep the damn thing in a box until it's ready to hang...How hard is it? Oh i forgot, it's union labor...

That is just a disgrace. When I see stuff like that or people not standing for the national anthem it drives me freaking bat nuts.

This country is in so much trouble.

I went to Iowa and it is not conservative at all. It is the most liberal place in the state, similar to Boulder. It's unfortunate that they represent the state like this.

In my chosen career path, I have worked at a large number of political events, particularly campaign events. I've been on staff for about a dozen Presidential campaign events.

The flags are huge, often as large as 30' wide. Keeping it from touching the ground is incredibly difficult, but most people respect that tradition. For storage, the flags aren't folded into a pretty triangle, as smaller flags are. They're usually transported in a large bag or rolling hamper, and pulling it out of the bag and unrolling it to hang it can be hard when the flag weighs 60-80lbs. All that being said, I've NEVER seen one laid out like that before being hung. That's just being lazy.

A tarp that must be the exact same dimensions as the flag, because I sure as hell don't see one.
