My father in law just got his J. Stevens A. & T. Co. 22 Pocket Rifle back (apparently this is the gun he learned on). It is in good condition minus a few missing parts. First it does not have the stock or stock screw, and the rear sight will not stand up. (I'm guessing it is missing some kind of tension spring or something.) Near as I can tell this is a model 40, maybe 40.5 with the 14.5 inch barrel. Couple of questions, does anyone know of a good local C&R gunsmith? He would like to have the sight fixed and he would like to get the stock for it. He doesn't seem very interested in preserving as much as getting it back to operating condition. I'm sure it is safe to fire as is (needs a cleaning) but obviously the sight would need fixed to be fairly accurate. There is limited good information on the net so I'm reaching out here. Thanks for any help.

Yeah I'm sure he's not remotely interested in selling it. He's pretty intent on getting it working.[Tooth]
