Hi all. As per the title I see under my name, I'm pleased to be the first member to be locked away in quarantine. I'm humbled by the honor. ;))

Not the first, won't be the last either. All new members start with a 30 day probationary period. It helps us weed out those who don't really want to come here to participate in the discussions but rather to hock their wares. Given that you've just signed up and already have 5 posts, I don't think non-participation will be an issue for you.

Welcome.

Hi Ginsue. Yep, I totally understand and support it. I own and operate a ski discussion forum, and we do similar things to ward off the spammers. Tight anti spammer software, a quarantine period, and a no second chance policy. You have to, or the spammers can wreck a forum in fast order.

I like the feel of your community, what a warm welcome. Great job nurturing it.

Welcome fastman, at least it isn't a felony so your probation doesn't affect your right to own and bare arms, [LOL]Do your community service and before ya know it your 30 days in the hole will be over Welcome my friend.

Hi Monky. We give second chances for rudeness, people are human after all, but spamming is just a blatant attempt to take advantage of our community and bother our members. I've seen spamming, either openly or veiled, do great damage to internet forums. As Barney would say, "Nip it in the bud."

Not to worry, Monky, there are other ski forums out there that would be happy to have a trouble maker like you. :D

If you want a lesson, let me know, I'm also a coach. http://www.skiervillage.com/images/smilies/skier.gif

Wow, 28 posts in my first day, what a start! Might get that 30 day probation thing reduced for good behavior. Nah, if it worked that way Monky would have been in chains for the first year. ;)

Thanks, everyone.

HoneyBadger, this has become a venting outlet for me. We don't allow political discussion on the ski discussion forum I own/operate. Ends up making too many people angry at each other. Not healthy for the community, and damages friendships. I'm sure there are those here who can vouch for that, who have read what I've written here in the political section and have already formulated negative opinions about me. Politics is a very divisive topic, especially in these tumultuous times.

Wow...128 posts already! Won't have to worry about lack of participation!

You've already noticed that this site is more open to some subjects than others; I'd say for the most part we have good discussion even when the parties don't agree. This is my hands-down favorite forum site; I don't think I've even looked at the M14 site I used to be on in months.

Just watch out for Ginsue...he'll seem all warm and cuddly and then he'll schwack you with his hammer when you're not looking, just for fun. [ROFL1]
