Good day,
I'm new to your board so I hope you don't mind me introducing myself to you in this way.
My partner and I are Emmy award winning producers from Northern California. Two years ago we started working on a film about street gangs invading rural California. Due to my repeated contact with gang members, it was recommend that I obtain a CCW permit - which I did. The process led to me learn about the backward gun laws of California compared to the rest of the Union. Through research I discovered that there has never been a positive documentary about the 2nd Amendment and gun ownership in America.
Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire will be such a film. Supported by the CalGuns Foundation and Second Amendment Foundation this PTV/PBS documentary will look at how California is the front line in gun control battle. The film will look at the current assault weapon ban proposals in California and Washington, DC, as well as, CCW permitting across the USA.
Here are a few links to learn more about the film:

Going to stay for the time being. And some claim we are not human. [LOL]
Post up your thoughts. Yes, they are asking for $$$. After looking through it my gut tells me this is a good thing. I know many claim that Cali is a lost cause but something is better than nothing. [Flower] And many of you transplants have miles to go before you sleep. ;)
I could get behind a documentary like that one.

Uhh... like the concept as described in the OP but not a fan of the racist or "white privilege" twist after reviewing the links. 'Bout had it up to my eyes with being blamed for every failing of the system or minorities attributed to my simply being Caucasian. I assure you I am neither "privileged" nor guilt-ridden. Sorry guy don't think I'm up to support more of that drivel but kudos on speaking against the ineffective nature of gun control.
What documentary would be complete without a reference to Hitler, civil rights moment of 60's, San Fransisco and New York and not letting Blacks fight on the front line in WWII was racist and letting them fight on the frontline in Vietnam was racist. But its a good start it only took 20 years to start to figure out that gun control is a loser. I make less than any minority that I work with. Is that because I'm white? No they just work harder and earn it. So I don't suffer from liberal guilt either.
Guns for the White Man only
Gun laws from the beginning of the United States of America have always favored the wealthy white man. The first laws written barred Native Americans and Blacks (freed or enslaved) from possessing firearms and continued through the Jim Crow era.
World War II saw gun confiscations precede forced interment of Japanese-American citizens just because of the fear of war empowered the white man to do so. The fact that no German-Americans or Italian-Americans had their firearms taken just supports that gun laws have been written for the white majority.
The California Gun Control Act of 1968 has been said to be a knee-jerk reaction to the Black Panther’s use of loaded rifles in peaceful protest to bring attention to white bigotry in the Oakland police department and abuses by its white police officers against black citizens. Even today, the majority of Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permits issued in California are given to white males.
This racial trend in gun control has also jumped the color barrier to only favor the rich who can financially afford their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and secure self-defense CCW permits through political campaign donations while the single mother in the inner city can’t legally acquire an affordable gun to protect her family.

Nope. Can't get behind it. I appreciate supporting future 2A rights, but there is no way I would support something essentially calling me a privileged white racist.
I am actually surprised that the owners of this site allowed this post to stand, seeing as you obviously have no interest here other than to solicit your goods.

Speaking as a Yurok Native American (no CA) I will attest to the fact that ONLY in Tribal lands may a Native posses a firearm.
I Swear, Sometimes people will act like its the 1800s...
What I believe the article/OP is trying to say is something that I actually see and agree with, There is a racial Bias inherent in the system.
Are you individually responsible?.. of course not.
When you created a "Right for Cost" system as exists in many states, you create an allotment of rights for the wealthy.
In Colorado, we are lucky. Any Free man, Non-Felon may put a firearm on his side and exercise his right to bear arms. No Cost
CA is a flat NO-NO
GA is a $75 Fee for that right, Please pay at the counter...
as is many southern states.
it's widely known that heavy gun regulation is a precursor to oppression of the citizenry. Not a racial Bias or a 'entitlement' cry... its a historical fact. Indigenous people all over the world are stripped of their ability to defend their lands right before they are killed or moved.
same thing happened to the Jews.
and it could happen to any of us, regardless of race, creed, color or religion....
or because of it.

Ok I watched the video. California would be the easiest state to invade from the west, retarded residents can't even have decent weapons to protect themselves. Seems this film maker is interested because maybe we have had infamous incidents such as Columbine & Century theater. You think the NRA would back this film with their big budget? I don't want to support a film if it is going to portray law abiding US citizens as gun fanatics in a negative light. How the states and the courts abridge our right to keep and bear arms never ceases to amaze me. I thought you could not pass laws that restrict our rights spelled out in the US Constitution. I guess I swore to uphold the Constitution verbatim, not some leftwing liberalist perversion of of it.
Interesting article here:

Bushmasterboy - the purpose of the film is to show exactly that - our civil right to bear arms is impeded and/or denied in a great portion of this country. California is just the poster child.
We have SAF and CalGuns Foundation behind us and over 140 individual that would like to see this film made.

Go make your movie and stop asking for handouts...
And point out how much money Dianne Feinstein makes for her husband in military contracts and how out of the other side of her head her other face wants to ban all guns from the law abiding citizens of America.

Sorry to read about your house vote today. Monky, I guess you're now experiencing what we have been battling in CA for the past ten years.
For those who care. We've expanded the films threads since last fall due to Newtown. Our goal is to complete the film for theatrical release this spring - more information here: http://kck.st/VZmXBM
Thank you,

wow... The majority of ccw permits are given to members of society known for having the majority of money and said individuals ALSO happen to be the racial majority as well!? Conspiracy...
I've got no money for you.
that being said, best of luck. I am interested in the final product and I hope it makes it to my TV.
for the record... I am a minority (actually a wierd mix of all minorities... I get Spanish Arabic and Afrikaans at 7-11)
I think pointing out that racist legislation used to be ok is unnecessary and counter productive. I don't get the civil rights play. Ive never been turned away from a gun counter for being a scary minority.
real issue? Poor is poor. The glock in the glass case at the gun store is $550 whether I am black, white, or Asian (or all of the above).
Lol to the thought of "inner city mom not having enough money to carry". My neighbor- on food stamps now, 'inner city mom', carries... It is strictly an issue of priorities... And the average American's priorities are... (Internal filter on overdrive right now) not aligned with long term success, stability, sustainability, upward mobility, logic, responsibility etc. IMO, and forgive me for being crude, some of the poor aren't so hot in the decision making arena.
- words from a minority in the process of escaping poverty.

Meh, the "white man bad" stuff turns me off. Besides, I'll be donating $$ to efforts that have an effect on COLORADO, not some unknown movie-maker from Cali.
No offense man, but why did you come on here except to make a little coin for yourself and/or your project? I'm kinda surprised the MODS didn't squash this in a nanosecond. Good luck but no funds coming from me. Well disguised spam.... [facepalm]
Not calling it spam but he is getting around.
