So at work I get this slip of paper with one question from our "Safety Officer":
"If you were killed or injured at work, how would it affect you?"
My reply: Please read your question. I believe in 20+ years here this has to be the stupidest interrogatory I have ever had set before me.
My answer is, and I am going out on a limb here but I believe I would be dead or injured.
Your tax dollars at work[ROFL1]
Wow! Does he get paid to do his/her job?
Amazing...give that "Safety Officer" a swift kick in the ass for me!

Answer: "If I were to be killed at work, I'd be very sad and would need some time off."
Turn it in and be totally serious! [Coffee]

I'm usually of the mindset "there are no stupid questions, just stupid people" but that one comes close to breaking my argument.

Depending on the severity of the injury or in the case of death I would certainly require the next day off... and not have it counted against my PTO...
Also this question has given my brain severe trauma.. I will no be able to make it the rest of today or this week ...
Jhood YES! That is the single best thing I have ever seen on this board! You sir are a hero.
Please tell me my tax dollars don't pay this idiots salary.

They do Ray.

Feel better now?
Not the first time this clown has come up with doozies.
One of my guys got into a minor bumperthumper when we were on snowshift.
I filled out the required accident and supervisors statements and submitted them.
About a week later I get an e mail from him asking for supplemental information.
One of his questions was: Was the employee "multi tasking"?
My reply: Of course he was. The employee in question was performing snow removal duties on I-25. He was operating a tandem dump truck with a 14' truck mounted plow and 10,000 pounds of de-icing material with 2 other trucks at 6 am in the morning.
This means the employee is constantly monitoring the weather, road conditions, equipment conditions, traffic, communication systems and two other assets he is responsible for. Perhaps you should make yourself available during snow removal operations and perform a ride along with one of my operators so you can evaluate the employee requirements and further define "Multi tasking".
Never heard another word about it.

Safety people are a diffrent breed of humans.
IDK how to describe them. Almost a combo of nerds, basement dwellers and retards all rolled into one.

Ralph Nader.
Patron Saint of safety people.
I have seen this question as well. Except when I asked what they were thinking, they explained along the lines of they wanted to know how it would affect my living situation ("life"). i.e. Is my wife taken care of, plan for bills, debts, etc....
It's a social question. Told 'em it's none of their business.

Sorry Bear, still a stupid question.
If I am dead my "living situation" is no longer a "living situation", its a "dead situation".
Now if they would have stated it correctly such as "if you are killed/injured at work how would this affect your family?"
Ok, fair question then.
Also agree that the majority of "safety officers" are cut from a different bolt of cloth.
We used to have a really good one that was a maintenance guy originally then was no longer physically able to work in the field. They made him a safety officer and he really was great, he knew the job the guys do and always had the best interest of the guys in the field.
Then they put this other guy in that never spent a day in the field.

Well, at least I have a better understanding of why some government employees "snap" and do crazy stuff. [Coffee]

Is this "dead situation" a zombie thing? We haven't had one of those threads in a while now. [Awesom]

I'd say my wife is gonna get PAID!
My answer: I'd no longer be able to get promoted when the fool who thought up this question accidentally hangs himself with his own necktie.

I had a good one. I have Identical Twins that work for me on receiving. Their 44 or 45 years old. One of the truck drivers that brings me materials asks, "How long have you been brothers?" One of the twins replys Uhhh were not Brothers. We are Identical Cousins. The truck driver said "Wow, how long have you been cousins?" The other twin said, all our lives. The truck driver, God Bless his heart said "My name is John, WOW Idendical Cousins who would a thunk it." [ROFL1]
And these people are driving the Semi Trucks out on our highways!!!!! [Bang]

Q: How would it affect you if you were killed or seriously injured at work.
A: I wouldn't have to work with people like you anymore. Since you are the Safety Officer, you should be fired.
Be safe.
