View Full Version : Primary Weapons Enhanced Buffer tube
Anybody running one of these?

I am trying to finish up my lower and having a hard time picking out a setup as I would like to buy a kit and be done with it. Not to mention the shelves seem to be rather bare these days for some reason...
Or even better anybody want to sell me something good? [Coffee]
I am considering the following to finish up this build before I purchase an upper:
- Magpul ACS
- Vltor EMod kit(http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Vltor-Carbine-Enhanced-Modstock-Kit-p/vltor%20aebk-mb%20emod-m%20kit%20black.htm)
Personally, I like the VLTOR stocks. The Emod was a bit large for my tastes but I really like the Imod. Here is a picture of the Imod on my 14.5" middy. I am putting together another rifle now and will probably put the Imod clubfoot on it.

Thanks for the input. This is my first build off a Spike's lower which is done as of a few minutes ago except for the receiver extension/stock/takedown pin install. So close!
I may be making a trip to Bower's tomorrow at lunch to check out my options.

Bower's is an awesome store. My only gripe is their selection of furniture is pretty much limited to the Magpul stuff.
If you want to check out the VLTOR stocks you might try contacting Mike at Lock and Load Armory. He usually has some of the VLTOR stuff in stock.
For what it's worth, I've had the Magpul stocks (MOE, CTR, ACS, and ACS-L) and prefer the VLTOR. I find the ACS and ACS-L too long and a bit on the heavy side. The MOE and CTR are nice but they seem heavier than the Imod to me.
Good luck on whatever you decide. [Beer]
Well it can't hurt to try a couple out. I have an MOE on another rifle and it is fine but wanted to see what else was out there since I can.

I have a Magpul ACS and I love it.
However, cant argue with the Vltor, its also a great stock. I've ran that one before.
Still love my ACS though.
Some Pics for ya :D we all know Pics are King

This was my ACS. The first shot was when the rifle was a standard 16" mid-length. The second shot was after the "dissipator" conversion.

And here is the same rifle with the ACS-L. I liked the ACS-L better than the ACS. To me the ACS was just too wide. Plus, I didn't need the storage tubes anyways.

Thanks for the input guys. I got the MOE triggerguard put in last night along with the B.A.D. lever. Pics to come soon.

VLTOR and Magpul both make a good stock. I'd avoid the VLTOR if you have a beard. It turns out the cheek-weld bits on the stock are great at catching facial hair and tearing it out when you dismount the rifle from your shoulder.... ask me how I know. [Stooge]

This is true!
I have a slightly older VLTOR and a brand new ACS. Here's some photos with my comparative observations: (hope this helps)
Side by side: the ACS is exactly an inch longer than the VLTOR with the buttpad.

ACS cheek real estate:

VLTOR cheek real estate:

Side by side from above. You can clearly see the length difference, but the width and cheek real estate seem to be almost identical. Both are very comfortable when mounted and both establish a good cheek weld, but I have only shot the VLTOR (and I loved it).

As a facially hairy guy I found the best way to deal with the Vltor was to run a strip of tan duct tape over the gap between the stock & storage compartments. Kinda ugly, but it works.
Well here is what I have so far:

The PWS enhanced buffer tube is a great tube if you're running a piston carbine. It helps take out carrier tilt seeing as how the carrier already sits on the buffer tube when at rest. And, if you like running a sling at the back of your receiver, it already has two qd sockets.
Well I went ahead and just a bought a total kit from BCM, one of these: https://www.bravocompanyusa.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Vltor%20AEBK-MB%20EMOD-M%20Kit%20Black
Hoping to get it on this weekend and then just wait for the upper to come in. Thanks for the advice.
