I have a stripped lower. I am trying to decide on building a 9mm short pistol vs 20" more accurate rifle. Not sure of caliber yet for rifle. I am looking for lower parts info and upper Info depending on best In class parts. Trigger for each option and why. [AR15]I would prefer to use local gun shops to buy parts. As a small business owner I support local businesses and prefer to buy local if reasonable price. Any detailed info is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jerrad

Price wise and as a first build I would recommend the 20" rifle build.
There are a number of extra cost / extra care issues with a pistol cal build. I addressed many of these in my review of the CMMG dedicated 9mm lower. http://www.ar-15.co/forums/showthread.php?t=65941
Trying to use local sources I feel you will have much better luck with the standard 223 rifle build.
Either way, best of luck with your build.

Well, going off the information you provided above highlighted in bold and underlined I think your answer is quite simple a 20" rifle.
9 out of 10 times an AR lower is transferred to the buyer as a "rifle" unless you requested it undetermined, if they can even do that anymore? From what I understand and someone can chime in, but if it was undetermined on the transfer paperwork as a virgin lower and what ever you build it up first as, is what it is, pistol or rifle. So chose wisely..............
More than likely it was transferred as a rifle then you can't just slap a short barrel on it with no stock and call it a "pistol."
