Spur of the moment trip to go shoot, scheduled job and no parts from UPS. Stop at the house and throw a box or 2 of shells in and the new Springfield XDm, in the company van. Drive for 45 minutes, talk to a local, setup target in a safe spot with a backstop, load some mags and run through said ammo in less time than it takes to load it all up.
Packing up, policing area for my brass and crap left by others. Loaded up and headed home or trying to, the overloaded open diff 2wd econoline van buries itself axle deep in the bottomless sand before I realize what is going on. Local guy is gone by now, and there is absolutely nobody around. Make a call to buddy, bad phone reception. Hike to the high spot and get him headed my way, remember there is a small spade shovel stashed in the depths of one of the storage bins. Dig for an hour, find some lumber and my target frame to put under the wheel that is traction challenged. Walk the beached whale out of the hole and get out to Tarmac just in time get buddy turned around before he gets half way.
Next time I'm taking my truck, being a cheap-skate is damn hard work sometimes.

Tried going out shooting in February up at Pawnee [ROFL1]
I was in my G20/Cargo van, and my buddy in his Jeep Liberty...
Got stuck twice in the snow... had to dig our way out between 60 to 100 yards in total.. maybe more... oh yea, in a foot/knee deep snow. We almost spent 3 to 4 hours just digging[Weight]
Good thing we started early... we still had some time to shoot [LOL]
I could only wish we filmed it... the funniest part was thinking if we got stranded out there for some time... [ROFL3]

Sounds like a bear hunting trip I did with the old man when I was in my early teens:
Dad's buddy #1 had a 1st gen Toyota 4x4 pickup that was probably still on the stock tires and still under warranty, might even have had the temp sticker in the window. Buddy #2 and his son (same age as me) were driving an Early model Bronco (EB) that was on some fairly aggressive and bigger tires, and it was decked out with wheelin' stuff, recovery kit, Hi-lift jack...basicly a well prepped and dedicated hunting rig.
I pile into the EB right away, that little Toy was cramped for the three of us, and I was more than happy to have the backseat and someone new to chat with, not to mention it got me away from the old man...;) Buddy #2 was leading the way as we started climbing the road outside of Bailey, it wasn't long before it was getting deep with snowpack. First stop was to lock the hubs in and shift into 4Hi-range. Go a couple hundred feet, stop, back up, go another 25-50feet. Get stuck. Pull out recovery strap, hook up to the little Toy. Pull back. This goes on and on, adding tire chains to the front, then the rear and finally hitting 4Lo-range.
And then the big stuck...EB chained all fours and in 4Lo, little Toy with stock all-season radials, 4Lo.
Everyone is buried. Not a soul anywhere. EB is deep enough that driver and passenger door wont open against the snow. I pile out the back tailgate window and walk a few hundred yards to dad and buddy #1. Both are chain smoking, neither getting out. Not high centered, but damn close. Good thing the traction limited tires stopped them.[Kick3]
Hours of digging with 2 shovels, lots of cussing and more chain smoking. Never did see a bear[Awesom]

Went shooting in Pawnee with some friends in my friend's 2500 3/4tr ton 4x4 pickup ... and he gets stuck in a the only snow, some 30 feet in diameter tops, in sight. He'd high centered it in some snow in a dip in the road. Not a bit of snow in sight other than the small patch beneath the truck.
No shovel.
Unbelievable.

I've ridden a dirtbike out at the OHV area @ Pawnee when it's just mildly muddy...that is some of the slickest mud/soil I've experienced in 30plus years of riding!
Tin, was a good day until I tried to bug out and get home before the Warden...I meant Mrs. figured out what I was up to. [LOL]
