I spent 6 years in the Coast Guard in the late 80's early 90's. We used a 12 guage shotgun. I do not know what the brand/model was but would like to find out. All I can recall is the rounds we used had 9 pellets. I was "expert" with this every time we had to qualify. I remember loving to shoot this gun and really want to find out what it was so I can get one, or something very similar. If any of you can help me out here I'd appreciate it. I'm not looking for what they have now, but back then.
Thanks in advance,
Ez

The 870 Model was designed in the 50's so it isn't a very recent model. I would bet that it is probably the model you are familiar with, would be pointless to swap between models very often from a tried and true model as the 870. Check one out at the gun store.
However the military (or D.O.T./D.H.S. in the Post 9/11 case of the USCG lol) also uses Mossberg 500 and 590's.

Was it the Mariner version with the satin nickel finish or a standard military parkerized version ?
Also the true police magnum models are hard to come by, expect to pay a premium for it.
