My wife and I need to find a place to rent in the Ft. Collins area so I have been looking at the newspaper, Craigslist and other online sources. Just about everything is a scam or a loss leader; 2BR/1BA w/Garage for $500. Email and get back some BS about needing to see my credit score so go to website and get a free trial credit report - SCAM. $500 a month - oops, a misprint and it is a apartment, not a house. One apartment complex advertises a 1BR/1BA for $650 but when directed to their website they don't have anything below a grand and claim it is a misprint but they they have three different adverts for three different places saying the same thing posted on different days!!! Get a reply from a Lister and they tell you that scammers are copying their advert to rip me off for a deposit - then why did you reply to my inquiry?
WTH is going on here??? Are there no longer any honest people in this country? AARRRGGHHHH!!!!!
Now I got a guy that says he is out of the country and is handling the rental process himself and to ignore the realtor's sign in the front yard, no longer working with them. SCAM
Lying SOB's.
Thanks for listening, I feel better now.
Still need to find a place to live so I guess I will continue to wade through the crap.

See, thats funny because last month we went to Sears Point for the last race in the series. I like to do vacation rentals- renting a house for a week- instead of doing hotels. It saves a little bit of money and is generically just a nicer environment.
So we find the perfect rental- 6br, pool, deck, walk to the beach, etc. Get to the point of making a deposit and the person doesnt answer when my wife calls to ask about some additional payment details. She does a little digging and finds another number for the house in a different listing, figures ones probably the office and the other a cell- oops wrong! Turns out the second call was to the owner of the house. The first contact was a fake ad done up by a scammer who had taken the pictures, description, etc from the owners ad. The house was already rented, so we would have shown up and not had anywhere to stay, not to mention being out a couple grand. There are scum out there in the world, so stay sharp and watch your money!

When I start to get frustrated with my landlord, I have to stop & remember people who are in your situation; mine could be a lot worse.
I found my rental through a friend-of-a-friend, and we are getting a heck of a deal. 4 bedroom, 1900sqft with an oversized two car garage & a huge yard with hot tub & fire pit for $1250/mo.
Good luck, hopefully something works out for you.

Everything is a damn scam anymore! People are nothing but scum, their is no honor or dignity and it pisses me off. Good luck over their the prices are out of control thats why i got out. Hopefully you find something good at a good price!
There are so many scams out there it's terrible. That's why there are forums like this to help weed them out. I prefer to buy cars, buy guns, and property from people that I know and that I trust. I can't stand going to apartment complexes/car dealerships. I feel like shit every time I walk away.
I'm a young guy and that's been my rant for YEARS... No honor, integrity, ethics, standards, morals, etc in todays world. Everything is a "take yours and I'll take mine" mentality... I feel saddened.
I have been wanting to move for awhile now. My credit sucks so that makes it difficult.
where are you looking? my work has a property in evans, loveland, longmont.
When are you looking for? I'll have a 2bed 1 bath apt soonish for rent in greeley. Soonish meaning whenever I can get my ass in gear and finish it.

If you're looking to buy I just put my condo up for sale. I bought it 6 yrs ago cause I hated renting for the kind of money rentals are out here. It's off timberline and harmony.
Just throwing it out there!!
Good luck!

Ditch the craigslist and find a realtor that does property management, the one I used here even showed us other peoples stuff.
