they were not P dogs, but my wife wanted they to die for eating her garden. had a great time in the back yard with my suppressed 10/22 and subsonic loads. the sound of the round hitting them is louder than the gun.

Cool, yea I can always tell my hits by the "thump" of the rounds hitting them., by the same token you can hear the embarrasing misses by thier distinct "whizzzz".

my wife thinks she is giving me chore. don't tell her i'm having fun or she'll make me build a fence instead.
i get the pleasure of shooting those squirrrles, house sparrows, starlings, rabbits, and pigeons. house sparrows are tough to hit but there are hundreds to shoot at.
the squirrles are getting wise to me and barking out a warning when i come outside. i only got 4 of them yesterday.

Sent ya a PM.
I've always wanted to try rat blasting, looks like fun! When I was a kid, we had a neighbor that would take me fishing on some private lakes he leased. Those lakes were overgrown with turtles, that would eat the fish off your stringer or trotline, really pissed me off. I spent one summer as a "turtle sniper", and I shot dozens of them with my scoped single-shot .22 rifle. Great fun!!! Making a clean hit on a turtle head sticking out of the water 100 ft. away is very satisfying. [Sniper]

I went to get into my truck this morning, that thing was cover in mud. I had to clean the widows and door handle just to drive it to work.

Thanks again Will for the invite I had a great time and was impressed with that load. I am going to site it in for that specific load so I don't have to compensate.
I hope we can all get together again for another hunt. I wish we would have taken a pic of that head shot.........talk about leaving a mark that won't buff out.

Two questions: Do I need a hunting license, and can I bring my .50?
I was lucky enough to find a landowner that lets us kill kis pdogs. I have gone for the last two weekends. I am new to this game but man is it fun. We found a dog town saturday that was about a square mile. It was awesome. I learn how to post pivs I will. We are going again friday if the weather is good.

You might want to check that license requirement. Pretty sure Pdogs are listed as small game and as such require you have a hunter safety class and a small game license no matter where they are hunted. A quick call to the conservation guys will clear it up. I know for a fact the hunter safety is required because I called to check on it for my dad a couple weeks ago. Good luck!

My buddy and I went out all day yesterday and had a great time. Probably got about 60. I was shooting 55grain vmax's and 50 sierra blitz. Some of them were flipping 6 feet in the air and falling right back down on the hill. The vmaxs make an awesome sound when they hit so you know it was a kill. We took a bunch of pics I will try and get them up monday.
I have a nice pic on my cell phone of the first dog i shot with a vmax at 209yds it did a number on him. I can send it to you if you wanna see it just give me your number.
Here are some pics of my latest outing

Hey, perhaps you guys can help me learn something (why I think you can succeed where academia has failed is anyones guess...). I know NOTHING about the rules pertaining to silencers/suppressors. What are the rules/restrictions for ownership and use of these items? Does it require a special Class III type of license?
I don't mean to highjack the thread, but since the topic was brought up here I thought I'd ask here (Admin's - please move this question if you feel it belongs somewhere else. Thx).
Any info would be appreciated.
All you need to do is submit paperwork to the ATF along with a check for $200 and they process the paperwork...somewhere between 4 weeks and 4 months later you get a letter saying they approved it along with a tax stamp. You take that to your supressor supplier and you can then purchase it.
I believe you also have to engrave your weapon that it will be used on with your name and your location (city/state) and you are good to go...

My comment was directed at Ryan who owns many NFA items it was a inside joke on my part. As far as if you wish to own suppressors they are completley legal in CO.
Ask your questions in this forum.

I've always wanted a suppressor - now I know it's a possibility! Thanks for the info guys. Again, sorry for highjacking the thread.
And now back to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress....
Here are some pics of combat17 and I shooting some prarrie dogs today.

There are more but they all look about the same.
Is there anyone in Boulder or Denver that goes prairie dog hunting that I could join up with? I'd be using a .17 rifle.[Weight]
I dont think thats enough firepower for today's modern super animals...
Like the flying squirrel and the electric eel?
.17 works fine I've used mine on a couple of trips.

I'll second the .17. As long as the wind is down they do a great job out to 200yrds or so.
We went out on friday in terrible conditions, sleeting rain. Didn't get any varmints but got in some trigger time.

I bought another Marlin 917 a few weeks ago. Shortened the stock about 3 inches so my 11 and 7 year old sons could shoot it. Took them out today for some prairie dog action. My 7 year old still had a hard time shooting prone but my 11 year old had several kills all over 100 yards. :D

Now Will, I've seen you in person before and that doesn't look like you![Coffee]
No its my girlfriend. She loves going, isn't she great. Although not the most flattering pic of her, if I posted the ones of her in her camo bakini from the week before they would get removed[Twist]

Will, shortly after I joined this sight back in May I was sitting across the counter from your place of business (not mentioned by name for your privacy's sake; BTW: great looking co-workers) - you were wearing your CO-AR15 t-shirt and I saw your name on the shirt.
We didn't actually meet because I had a certain awe-of-rank and was embarassed by beong only a lurker on this site at that point.
Now, I was back there last Friday @ about 4:30 and looked for you, but didn't see you - I intended to introduce myself. Do you still work there?

Yeah, and that wouldn't be good if there are other perverts like me on this site - but --> I <-- certainly won't try to stop you from posting them!! <evil snicker>

I'm guessing that you won't want me to come in to the Fox & the Hound toting harvested p'dogs; eh?
I've been out several times lately. Alot of kills.
We just cropped hay out at the ranch so the shooting has been real good lately.

I got out about once a week roughly if I have time. there are a few behind my house that I go after, but it is all with a .22 as the neighbors are close by and i don't want to piss any body off.
I have 64 total so far this year since I have been keeping track. i am sure there is a lot more than that, but so far thats what i have counted.
