The fact that the British chose to burn down the Capitol and White House during their raid on Washington DC in August of 1814 and leave the Marine Corps Commandants house alone says everything that you need to know. I think it's awesome that in this day and age of political correctness, the Corps still maintains that their job is to simply kill as many enemies of the United States as it can. It's a shame that the leaders in Washington would rather kiss our enemies asses instead. I have never met a Marine either active or inactive that would pass up an opportunity to get in the fight. My favorite quote is from Chris Kyle's book American Sniper.


When you’re working with Army and Marine Corps units, you immediately notice a difference. The Army is pretty tough, but their performance can depend on the individual unit. Some are excellent, filled with hoorah and first-class warriors. A few are absolutely horrible; most are somewhere in between. In my experience, Marines are gung ho no matter what. They will all fight to the death. Every one of them just wants to get out there and kill. They are bad-ass, hard-charging mothers.
