Unfortunatly after a 51 year long service to this great Nation and the world will come to an end
this December. I have seen her in flight ops and also either we UNREPed from her
or we were UNREPing with her with the same supply ship with her.

Enterprise Official Site and Info (http://www.enterprise.navy.mil/) for those interested in learning more. I think
I am gonna go out there for the ceremony since I missed my own ships decom. [Bang]

I Don't want her to become a museum ship only for the fact that it will make it less likely her name will carry on to a new hull....

There has been an Enterprise on the naval register almost continually since we became a nation . I want to see that continued

Agreed!
If it lives on who knows,it might actualy get to be a starfleet reality, that would be awsome!

if your wondering if what I said is right.. here is the history

Continental Navy
Two ships of the Continental Navy were named Enterprise:
USS Enterprise (1775) armed sloop (18 May 1775 – 7 July 1777), the first American ship to bear the name served on Lake Champlain
Enterprise (1776) schooner (20 December 1776 – February 1777), the second American ship to bear this name served on Chesapeake Bay during the Revolutionary War.
United States Navy
Six ships of the United States Navy have been named Enterprise:
USS Enterprise (1799) 12-gun schooner / 14-gun brig (17 December 1799 – 9 July 1823), the third ship to bear this name, was built as schooner, and later rerigged as a brig. She fired the first shots in the First Barbary War against the Tripolitanian ship Tripoli
USS Enterprise (1831) 10-gun schooner (15 December 1831 – 24 June 1844), the fourth ship to bear this name
USS Enterprise (1874) barque-rigged screw sloop (16 March 1877 – 1 October 1909), the fifth ship to bear this name
USS Enterprise (SP-790) motor yacht (1917–1919), the sixth ship to bear this name, was non-commissioned, serving in the Second Naval District during World War I
USS Enterprise (CV-6) Yorktown-class aircraft carrier (12 May 1938 – 17 February 1947), the seventh ship to bear this name, served with unparalleled distinction in World War II, becoming the most-decorated vessel in the history of the U.S. Navy.
USS Enterprise (CVN-65) Enterprise-class aircraft carrier (25 November 1961 – Present), the eighth ship to bear this name, is a unique design, and the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier.

God Bless! We thank the many crews who served on her and the many great men to command her! We will miss the Enterprise.

Also, my old man just watched Star Trek The Movie the other night and they show all the ships that bore the name Enterprise... everything from the Civil War to the future and beyond! [Beer]

My Dad served on her for his first tour in Nam! The other 3 tours were with the Marines, as a door gunner. Based out of Da Nang! I'll have to let him know this. Thanks!

The Nimitz class carriers replacements will be Gerald R Ford class. From the Wikipedia page on the Fords: "As of June 6, 2011, there was a petition circulating online to eventually name CVN-80 as "USS Enterprise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Enterprise)".CVN-80 is the 3rd Ford class carrier schedule with the GR Ford expected to launch in 2015.

So, with a little luck...
