NASHVILLE – A Tennessee man was shot and killed Saturday during a meeting to sell guns to two men who answered an ad on Craigslist.
Joshua McLean, 30, of Nashville, and his brother met the two men at a Nashville shopping center Saturday night, according to a WTVF-TV report.
Joshua McLean's brother told police he heard two gunshots when Joshua got out of his car in the parking lot. Then he found his brother lying between two cars, bleeding. Officials believe Joshua was shot twice in the chest.
The men jumped into a vehicle and drove away. Joshua was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he later died from his wounds.
Police said Joshua and his brother were planning to sell guns, but they were recovered at the scene. The gun used to kill Joshua was not one of his own.
Officers are working with Craigslist to obtain any information on the people who were taking part in the transaction.
Craigslist.org has a list on its website of items users cannot advertise to sell. The list includes weapons, including "firearms, ammunition, silencers, pellet/BB guns, tear gas or stun guns."

The one time I sold a gun on armslist, I brought my friend along, made sure he was with me, and armed.

Did we check to see if the seller was a member here?

We don't have to many members from Nashville

This doesn't apply to just firearms. I really hate dealing with any transactions that deal with Craigslist. Too many horror stories.

The shooter was probably a libtard trying to teach people a lesson that guns are dangerous and shouldn't be sold on craigslist.

Agreed. I will not use Craigslist anymore, for anything. Ever.

I would like to go that route but it's so dang easy to sell random things on it.

But I am getting further and further from it.

I am from TN....

A couple years ago I had a customer who was robbed at gunpoint dealing on CL. He was giving the guy a test drive in the car he was selling and when they got back to the starting point the guy pulled a gun and told Tommy to get out. His buddy who came with him was already gone and Tommy had (stupidly) come alone.

I really try hard not to buy stuff off CL. I did once buy a couple of lower recievers off Gunbroker, but I was armed, drove around the parking lot twice scouting things out. Turned out to be a great guy, would not surprise me if he is not on here.

Part of the reason I have three little rules about Craigslist. I only do Craigslist deals:

1. During daylight hours
2. In a public place
3. Armed.

Exactly! Honestly, I have bought and sold hundreds of items on craigslist and only once have I not felt safe. That was when we bought a truck from aurora. I follow all these rules, and I usually buy/sell kids stuff and furniture which is not usually expensive.

Am i the only who would reversed look up the name or phone number of the person? In today's age, unless if the other party has been living under the rock, you can look him/her up. County record is online - if they own their own home, phone number reverse, or simply by googling them.

Same thing w/ ebay, amazon auction etc.. if you phone number doesnt match your address.. no deal.

If it's my number that came up on the roulette wheel of life, doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing. Go to a deal unarmed, shame on you.
Like buying a firearm, if you don't feel right about the phone call or internet communication, walk away.

For some reason I get more paranoid about buying than selling...

Doesn't stop a fatal leg shot, or lucky head one either. If it gets to the point I need or have to wear body armor, something terribly wrong has happened. AND CL would be the least of my worries.

Sounds a little fishy. Why kill him and not take the guns? I bet there is more to this story.

Ive bought and sold thousands of dollars on CL... all have been in public places/banks. I even once sold a camera tripod to a gentleman that didn't even look at the tripod, took possession handed over cash and we talked for a bit and he left. I politely asked "aren't you going to check it out" he said "i trust you". Shocked!

I've had people ask to meet at my house, which I will NEVER do!

Did you see that Tennessee laws prohibits people from murdering others? I can't believe those two guys didn't follow that policy....

This story has to be fabricated. Everyone knows firearm sales aren't allowed on Craigslist. [Coffee]

I like CL, they always have good sex for sale ads. [ROFL1]
CL should be shutdown since someone used a gun to kill another on there.

All joking aside I hope they catch those douchebags!

Quick addendum to my CL rules: Bring a friend. Preferably also armed.
