You're right... We should all just assume that no one has bad intentions...
Very odd for CSP tropper to do that. Don't they have a dash cam?
Crappy experience for sure but were only getting a one sided story.
Who's to say the Trooper wasn't following up on a complaint and that person and vehicle fit the description?
Not saying it's right or proffesional but just one sided..

Wow, that is a little over reacting but what's the other side.

Apparently he got it recorded, so there really isnt any sides once thats played.
Generically I have found State Patrol officers to be on the more professional side, but there are exceptions-
In Reno about 99 or so I was driving to a jobsite when a female Sheriffs officer pulled me over. I knew the drill, because TN did not communicate well with other agencies when they ran my tag it would come back that it did not exist. I would then get pulled over, show my registration, and within a half hour or so of the officer checking me for warrants etc. be on my way.
The officer elected to come to my passenger side door, so I stopped rolling down my drivers window and started to roll it back up, and reached for my wallet in my jeans pocket. For those who cant visualize, I am seatbelted in, with one hand cranking a window- yeah, crank windows!- and one hand pulling my wallet out of my right back jeans pocket. I look over to see her pointing her pistol at me and shouting. I froze, and she informed me that there was a gun under my seat. Well yeah. I was 2500 miles from home, by myself, and it was perfectly legal for my 1911 to be cocked and locked under my seat in the State of Nevada. To say I was nervous was an understatement. She had me slowly get out of the vehicle and stand at the rear of the vehicle while she worked her way around and removed my pistol, then handcuffed me and put me in the back of her car. She ran the numbers on the gun, ran my ID, etc. and eventually had to let me go and return my pistol. No apology. Nothing other than the comment that my 1911 was "a Mickey Mouse Piece of Crap". I am positive she went far in her department.
I later had the opportunity to ask a DA about the incident and she said "It the West, we carry guns and shoot things, no problem carrying your weapon legally". Awesome lady.
In contrast, earlier this summer I was pulled over in Utah outside SLC by a DUI task force guy, probably because I had out of state plates, but he claimed I was wandering over the white line. Ok. FWIW I do not and never have drank, smoked, or done drugs, just my personal choice. Anyway, the officer asked for my ID, which I handed him, and asked for my insurance and registration, which I responded was in the glove compartment with my gun, and if he would be so kind I would let him get them rather than me. He removed and cleared the Beretta, checked me out, and let me go. His only comment was that in Utah you can have a loaded mag in the pistol in your car, but not have a round chambered. I stuck the 11th round in the console. Very professionally handled, never felt uncomfortable with the officer.
I think officers get in the habit of dealing with bad people so much they can make good solid people uncomfortable, and this can be dangerous, for everyone involved.

EDIT: Oh, and you're exactly correct, ONCE THE TAPE IS PLAYED there will be no sides... But, no one in here has heard the tape.... So, again, there is only one side.
I find it is best to immediately tell the office I have a gun, then quickly grab and pull it out to show them what I am talking about. Messages are best conveyed if you have props to demonstrate and confirm what you are verbally saying.
"I am armed, the gun is riiiiggghhhtttt.... HERE!!!"
Of course this is a joke. That would be a "bad idea, TM". I'm overly cautious, I have hands at 10 and 2 on the wheel, fingers open to show I don't have anything in my grip. Window already down, car off, keys on the dash and interior lights on with my CODL and CCW out. This is all done as I pull over, not while stopped with the LEO walking up. I explain calmly that I am armed and have a CCW and ask how they want me to proceed. Has worked well so far.

OK tell me if I did this right; Driving (w/my son) from CR to Highlands Ranch. Fumbling the phone trying to follow the G Maps and then see a DCS pull along side and look at me. The only law I think I am breaking at this point is the seat belt not being on.
Lights me up, pull over. He walks up and I immediately tell him I have my Glock sitting on the seat and point to it, also tell him I have my CCW. Ask if he wants me to step out so he can secure it because my wallet is in my back pocket. Don't want him spazzing out as I reach for the wallet. He says sure, I get out he get's it (muzzle flashes the boy) and I get back in.
He asks for my CCW, I think this is weird and proceed to say I don't need it and why does he want it. At the same time though and mid sentence, I correct my self and say, well it don't matter sure, and start to get it. While I am doing this he says your right to carry, extension of home blaha blah blah.
Says he pulled me for inputting into a cell and no seat belt. I explain I was actually following the GPS.
Show hime my CCW and he hands the gun right back! Says don't reach for it and keep hands were he can see and we are good. Sweet I think, he walks back runs me and comes back with a ticket for no seat belt and says "thank you for telling me".. Say no problem asks if I need help finding my way and then I am gone...
Only mistake I made was not having it on me concealed! IMHO
Critique me/ him... Ready go!

I know someone who did exactly this, was drunk, did not have a conceal permit, AND was called in by assholes who had a beef with him. All that said, becaise the cops were professionals, everything went smoothly. Even got the gun back after a few months. THAT is how professional cops operate. A touchy situation is not an excuse for bad behavior.

So let me get this right...
you think that ANYTIME an officer pulls someone over .. if they don't go into " statue mode" and move to get their wallet is all an officer needs to draw down ??

THAT is how professional cops operate. A touchy situation is not an excuse for bad behavior.
In NYC or Chicago, the first LEO to see the firearm (they always ride in pairs, and often call a second car for traffic stops) would've yelled "GUN!!!" and there is even odds one of them would've had a negligent discharge, which would result in every other cop emptying their magazines into the vehicle.
That CSP officer should apply for a job in NYC or Chicago. He will be so responsible and professional they will promote him to supervisor.

Sometimes civilians get "made example of" unfortunately I think this needs to go the other way. I would guess the LEO was from another state, with different laws, and that is the real root of the issue. But until this kind of thing is brought to the forefront, it will never be dealt with.

Was reading down at the bottom of the thread and the guy clarified a few things.
First id like to say thank you all for your advice. Yes this did happen in Alamosa, and it was daylight to clarify a few things. Also as asked by saxxon, no the officer did not approch with weapon at the ready, he pulled it out of his holster placed it to the side of my head and said "how do you like a gun in your face?" after he tried to retrive my weapon from the holster and could not do so. He was not trying to protect himself he was trying to threaten me with a deadly weapon With his finger on the trigger the entire time. Also, i did not at any time reach towards my weapon, my hands remained on the steering wheel the entire time including when he approched my vehicle the first time. he actully had to push me back in my seat and force both hands off the wheel in order to reach inside my vehicle across to my right side and yank at least 4 times to try to get my Glock out of its holster.
Yikes!!! I'd be suing the shit out him... Good on him for having it audio recorded as well to back up some of his claims.

drawing alone when the driver's gun was holstered reeks of "guilty until proven innocent"... somewhat forgivable, he's human- maybe had a bad day.
Putting a gun to his head is inexcusable- if driver were a dangerous perp, he just put himself in danger of losing his duty weapon... just all around a stupid move with no legitimate reason for it. (sounds like reason was intimidation or "teaching a lesson")
when he said "I don't have to get my supervisor", MAJOR red flag- "gee, what do you have to hide", especially from your supervisor?
somebody was a bit jumpy- I'd certainly follow up with a formal complaint, need to ensure it's followed up with training... Lawsuit pending outcome of formal complaint.
of course this is all armchair quarterbacking with 3rd party information- but just providing my opinions.

Having worked with the majority of the CSP Troopers in the Alamosa district, I am having difficulty in identifying which 14 year veteran would act in such a manner. But, the person could have been somewhere else in the state and not in/around Alamosa when it happened. He doesn't say where he was at, specifically. That being said, how does an audio recording show or prove the Trooper put a gun to this guy's head?
I'm going to side with Bailey Guns on this and wait to see the complaint.
I am also amused at the amount of people who immediatey jump and shout "lawsuit!" at anything to do with LEO's. Like there is some big payout just waiting for them.

Understand hitting them in the wallet, might bring about change. By that same token, look at all of the warning labels that would need to be placed on the door of your car, holster... etc...
But then again, they still may not learn.

The audio won't necessarily prove that the cop did it but it will at least back up and collaborate a lot of what the driver said in the dialogue. Who knows, maybe the driver made reference to the gun pointed at his head during the stop??
According to the driver, he said the cop said, "how do you like a gun in your face" while pointing it at his head. That will definitely show up on the audio and help collaborate what he is saying.

Well, because our legal system is too black and white relative to other G30 countries.
Not a fan of lawsuit. Maybe it is much time and cost efficient to Get it over with 10 whip lashes like Singapore does.

Agreed. A lot of the lawsuits are B.S. and I wouldn't be surprised if most cops faced them through out their careers. Probably most of them are B.S and baseless.
This one though seems a bit different. If I had a gun held at my head like how he's saying it went down, I'd sue the beejeezus out of them..

Ya know... There are girls in yoga pants and bacon bikinis in the whore thread and we're all in here arguing.... For shame... All of you.
So uh.... Who's tax dollars do you think are gonna be used to pay for said lawsuit? [LOL]
I understand your point but that's not a valid reason to let it go. If the cop did what the driver is saying, then the cop is in the wrong and in my opinion should be held accountable.

Gotta make sure you sue the right person. The department shouldn't be held accountable to one dumb cop. Assuming it's all true.

Why are you keeping a gun in your ass anyway?
Thought that was the norm! You don't carry it there?[ROFL1]

Someone needs to tell that guy(on the other forum) as,
I am not a member there, to DELETE THE THREAD until
the investigation is concluded.

What?
What?
He's talking about the open carry forum where the story originated. He's saying the driver should have the thread deleted so it can't be used against him in the chance that his thread story differs from his official written statement/complaint.
It could be used against him to prove that he is lying or inconsistent on what happened.

What?
He should keep the entire thing private until all is said and done.
Im sure his lawyer will say the same thing once he has counsel.
I have a pending lawsuit and that was one of the first things they
mentioned to me about internet media. (Yes its a legit lawsuit after
I was injured in a motorcycle accident that was NOT my fualt)

I get it... I was thinking that was either a copy from outside telling us to delete the thread, or someone here claiming that was their story relayed by a member there and wanted the thread from the open carry forum deleted...
Sorry... I R slo!

Unfortunately at this point it is too late for that.
Once posted on the 'net and it gets out-it's out there prety much permanant...
Personaly if I was to go about and make a case of it I definitly would not put it out there for all to see and discredit at will. That is something you would only discuss with your lawyer.

Yeah i know but makes it a bit more difficult for them to come back and find it after.
Id hate for this guy to lose (if the facts are as he stated) to some technicality or some how discredited due to the thread.

True it would take some research to find it and maybe not cost or time effective for them.
If he truly is in the right I hope all the best.

No, it will cooperate a statement, not an action. A statement can be made and have no corresponding action.
