COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Drivers headed south on I-75 in Cobb County near the Canton Road exit can't help but notice it.
It's a head-turning billboard promising a free hunting rifle if someone buys a diamond.
"What a great idea to get someone a gift and get one for yourself, too," Mike Geller of D. Geller and Sontold 11 Alive on Tuesday.
After 73 years in business, the diamond merchant is making the offer to appeal to its hunting customers, according to Geller.
From September 20 through 22, any customer who buys at least $2,500 worth of diamonds will get a $430 hunting rifle from Adventure Outdoors of Smyrna.

the problem is everyone wants to use stupid titles. They need to use descriptive titles. Yours was a much better title.

Great idea but if they are basically give you 400+ back right out the gate then the resale on the dimonds are not that great

Promos are to get people in the door.

How many times have you gone to get a promo and:
1) They are "OUT" of the item and don't know when they will get them in stock
2) They reserve the right to substitute an item of "equal or greater quality" (Yeah, right...)
3) Fine print said they only had a limited supply - When they are gone they are gone

But...
...they got you in the store, and now you might browse around and find something else. You wouldn't BE in the store AT ALL if they did not run the promo.

Thus, Promo did its job.

Yes, I agree.

Their prices will probably be a bit higher on the diamonds than competitors (probably to the tune of the cost of the rifle) and you won't be able to buy as much diamond for the dollar.

As far as quality, the 4 C's (Caret, Cut, Color, Clarity) will still be based on your selection. You will probably just not get as good of a deal.
