Tapco mags don't work very well that's for one.

Looked like more of a mag malfunction then a weapons malfunction
I would have at least tried different mags first before bashing it on youtube.

I agree he certainly should have demonstrated the problem across a variety of mags and ammunition but that didnt look like a mag problem to me. You honestly think it was the tapcos not his diagnosis of the problem? In the footage displayed the gun locked up every shot.

It is possible the gas system was at fault.
To me it looked like it wasn't picking up the next round properly.
I'd have to watch it a couple of times though.
Not knocking Tapcos, but they are known not to function properly in certain weapons.

It could be BS. He obviously PO at sig. The time he spent on single shot theatrics could have been used with close ups of the gas settings, shooting the gun and demonstrating the problem with different gas settings, amunition, and magazines. If he just has malicious intent he could misadjust the gas setting and voila. On the other hand he seems knowladgable, claims he tried all gas settings, and has a diagnosis for the problem. Im inclined to believe there is a problem. If he is correct and a too strong hammer spring is to blame, SIG could have gone to a stronger hammer spring to get the hard steel case primers to light and inadvertantly caused a problem on the 556r. He states he has one older 556r that runs although its not demonstrated. Any 556r or 716 owners out there calling BS? The ergonomics of the gun look nice!

I did hear that early in 556r production they had an aluminum block where the rear mag locked so people were worried about using steel comblock mags but that's the only "issue" I personally have ever heard though I don't know a lot of sig guys

Cheapo mag..and perhaps subsonic/cheap ammo. Those will do it each time!

It's the front locking lug that sig rectified in 2nd production runs and also offers an update @ no charge to owners.

Did you hear some AR owners have issues running early wolf lacquer cased ammo [ROFL1][ROFL2][ROFL3][ROFL1]

I have some firsthand experience with the Sig 556R. A good friend of mine bought one of those new, and so did my brother. Both of them did not work, they would jam about every 5 to 10 rounds, usually on ejection. Sig came out and said there was a problem with the extractor, my brother sent his in for repairs, came back with the same problem.

So I've personally witnessed two of them failing hardcore (yes, different ammo and mags were tried to no avail). Just and FYI

I bet the rachel ray of aks could get it to run [Tooth] I wonder if the hammer spring could be replaced with a standard AKM spring? Then simply machine a AKM extractor into the bolt. I think i need to buy a few more saigas now[LOL]

probably could use a stronger extractor spring ;) oh wait it's not an ar15 lol now i did play with a sig556 once but it was to turn it into a post dealer sample with a swiss lower, those things do have a nice design, basically a swiss made over complicated ak lol

From the video the guy says that the problem is caused by an overpowered hammer spring causing the bolt carrier to short stroke.

Not sure were the subsonic ammo came into the discussion either but I never heard him say he was using subsonic ammo
