View Full Version : anyone else like to have some guns "off the books"?
I guess visiting too many gun forums has made me paranoid that stormtroopers are going to come knocking at my door one day. All my current guns were purchased through an FFL so they are "on the books" as they say and could likely be traced back to my doorstep by the government if they chose to.
I've recently decided to (probably) sell a 1911 and buy an HK USPc 45 and the thought has returned that perhaps I should buy my new handgun through a FTF transaction instead of through an FFL so it won't be so easily tracable in the event that the the ATF shows up at my doorstep one day.
I suppose it probably doesn't matter. I'm sure that the government will rely on honest citizens to turn in all their guns and rat out their neighbors instead of actually doing door-to-door searches.
Perhaps there's just something reassuring about knowing that big brother ISN'T watching every single gun I own.

Over half my firearms were FTF, and the two that weren't are the .22 and my 12ga.

Honestly if you have ever bought even one gun through an FFL then you're "on the books" (assuming the ATF ever pulls together all the 4473s to start going door to door).
So unless you started your collection with "off paper" guns, "they" will know you're a gun owner.
If the confiscation day ever comes, I expect those of us that got rid of our guns in advance are going to have the toughest time of it ... pretty much expect your home to be trashed.

All the guns I 'did' own were either lost in the 'Great ARFCOM Boating Accident of 2007' or were sold FTF to individuals in state. At the present time, I'm unable to locate the bill of sales for all those sold. I've had bad luck boating and my paper organizing skills suck. The only one I do still have is my M11/9 SMG and I do have the Form 4 for it, at least all was not lost.

I will go as far to say that if you have even purchased a firearm cleaning item or ammo on a credit card, or ever had a subscription to a hunting or gun rag, you are in the database.
AAAAAAHHHHH!

I wasn't the bearded guy or the heavyset guy.
I sold all my guns for cash. I needed the gas money.
I might as well come clean myself...
I'm 16 years old and i guess what you guys would call a poser. I'm still living with my mom and dad. They wont let me have anything even remotely dangerous. I'm here because I think guns are tight. I want to be an army seal, they're so badass!

"Army" seal?
Yes Army Seal...a special unit that is a secret collaberation between the Army and Navy, for special forces black ops dark nightime critical off-the-books if-you-get-caught-we-don't-know-you missions on land and sea. 7idl would tell you more but then he'd have to de-breathilize you in your sleep.

I think your nomenclaure is off just a tad. The Navy calls them "Seals". The Army calls them "Gaskets".
Unfortunatly I was on the same boat with HunterCO.[Bang]
Tim why did we bring all of our guns[Bang]
Well when I grow up I'll really get into Air-Soft, right now my grandma says that I can't have anything that looks like a real gun. Guess I'll have to go back to my cap gun cowboy outfit at the next sewing club north meet.
---- what the hell kinda stupid question was this in the first place?
I have yet to buy a gun "On the books". not sure why its just the way it worked out all FTF I will probably buy my first FFL gun in the next year then again maybe not(not on the FFL part!)
