This jackass was taking up FOUR parking spaces.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u177/superorb/Misc/IMG_20130611_203144.jpg

Every time some idiot pulls through they always stop too far or too short of the space. And in angled parking the clown always drives the wrong way when leaving. Some people don't understand how arrows work.

Backing up is easy. I back up my work truck all the time without using the rear view mirror since I can't see out the back window anyways. And the backup radar is useless most of the time too.

I've always been a great backer, but I had the tailgate down, the back was full of trash and brush, and I didn't see this little steel pole. Just demolished the tailgate.

But I can still park like a boss. Parallel, anyone?

I backed my truck into the 5th wheel before I had raised it high enough. Dented the top edge of the tailgate after it hit the kingpin. [Bang]

At least, I've never dropped the damn thing.

Note: don't fuck with anyone while they're hooking/unhooking.

Side note: I have backed, in one shot, the 5th on the side of the house( 2' each side) in one shot while the kids were taking bets on it.

It looks like the Dodge Ram in the background is probably parked pretty poorly as well.

And I totally agree. If you want to protect your car from door dings, park out in the back of the lot instead of parking like an ass.

i have a 3500 dually, i usually take two spaces, not because i cant park it, but because the wide back end makes it difficult for others to leave. think about getting out of your parking space and as you turn your wheel the vehicle next to you is 12 inches closer than normal, especially for another truck. i try not to take the front two spots :) i think people actually get it cause no one seems to mind the fact that i left them extra space.

IN NYC, they'll just strip the parts off of your car if you're cramping an open space so they can fit.

To me that just looks like defensive parking. Two nice cars trying not to get door dings and scratches by the mindless general public who couldn't care less about other peoples things. I'll grant you those aren't spots so far as we can tell but they aren't hurting anyone's parking inabilities.

Yesterday I watched an idiot drive the wrong way down angled parking, then try to park his longbed truck in one of the spaces. I swung around to take a pic but he was still inside and my wife got pissed and drove away. It took him a good 3 times backing up and pulling in again to still screw it up and park crookedly. If he had just gone down the next row the first 10 spaces were empty. This was 20 minutes before closing at the Target in Arvada.

Big grey area nless you are on the street in Denver.

I've run without a front plate on my Audi since I bought it in 2003. Only time I ever had an issue, including what i consider to be a reasonable number of stops :D, was a citation for parking in Denver without it.

Depends on the bumper thickness and how fast you drive. :D

Most guys epoxy them them to the back of the bumper and plate. I never bothered with mine, but you can probably google a few car sites and figure something out. 30lb magnets ought to do the trick.

C.R.S. 42-3-202

COLORADO REVISED STATUTES
*** This document reflects changes current through all laws passed at the First Regular Session
of the Sixty-Ninth General Assembly of the State of Colorado (2013) ***
TITLE 42. VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC
TAXATION
ARTICLE 3.REGISTRATION, TAXATION, AND LICENSE PLATES
PART 2. LICENSE PLATES
C.R.S. 42-3-202 (2013)
42-3-202. Number plates to be attached

(1) (a) Number plates assigned to a self-propelled vehicle other than a motorcycle or street rod vehicle shall be attached thereto, one in the front and the other in the rear. The number plate assigned to a motorcycle, street rod vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, other vehicle drawn by a motor vehicle, or special mobile machinery shall be attached to the rear thereof. Number plates shall be so displayed during the current registration year, except as otherwise provided in this article.

(b) If the department issues a validating tab or sticker to a motor vehicle pursuant to section 42-3-201 (http://web.lexisnexis.com/research/buttonTFLink?_m=a91af718cd63a660bb44b47c044b2a8c&_xfercite=%3ccite%20cc%3d%22USA%22%3e%3c%21%5bCDAT A%5bC.R.S.%2042-3-202%5d%5d%3e%3c%2fcite%3e&_butType=4&_butStat=0&_butNum=2&_butInline=1&_butinfo=COCODE%2042-3-201&_fmtstr=FULL&docnum=1&_startdoc=1&wchp=dGLbVzB-zSkAb&_md5=b4f99c51b363791aa4038ea795c1fae2), the current month validating tab or sticker shall be displayed in the bottom left corner of the rear license plate. (2) (a) Every number plate shall at all times be securely fastened to the vehicle to which it is assigned, so as to prevent the plate from swinging, and shall be horizontal at a height not less than twelve inches from the ground, measuring from the bottom of such plate, in a place and position to be clearly visible, and shall be maintained free from foreign materials and in a condition to be clearly legible.

(b) A person shall not operate a motor vehicle with an affixed device or a substance that causes all or a portion of a license plate to be unreadable by a system used to automatically identify a motor vehicle. Such a device includes, without limitation, a cover that distorts angular visibility; alters the color of the plate; or is smoked, tinted, scratched, or dirty so as to impair the legibility of the license plate.

(3) (a) A person who violates any provision of this section commits a class B traffic infraction.

(b) A person who violates paragraph (b) of subsection (2) of this section commits a class A traffic infraction and shall be punished by a fine of one hundred dollars.

(4) Notwithstanding subsections (1) to (3) of this section, the owner of a military vehicle may elect to not display the vehicle's assigned license plate if the license plate is physically in the military vehicle and is available for inspection to any peace officer who requests the plate.

Where the suspect's license plate was obstructed by dirt, in violation of this section, the troopers had a reasonable suspicion that criminal activity was occurring. Although after stopping the vehicle, the troopers could see the plates well enough to discern that they were current, the continued obstruction of the plate constituted an ongoing license plate violation and thus a reasonable purpose for the stop. Because the troopers had a reasonable suspicion and a reasonable stop, they properly initiated an investigatory stop. People v. Altman, 938 P.2d 142 (Colo. 1997).

Applied in People v. Clements, 665 P.2d 624 (Colo. 1983).

This is a tough one. I consistently do that because my truck would stick out into the driving lane if I put the bed in the spot. Of course I park as far out in the lot as possible, or back into a landscaped area when possible. I pull through because I've been trained to 'combat park.' If anything crazy happened I can leave without needing to back up, therefore not getting trapped waiting to reverse to leave.

There is a distinct difference between not being able to physically fit into a space, and being able to fit and still going over the lines. I still key both vehicles, but at least with the large vehicle I give a silent nod of respect in acknowledgement of their attempt to fit before I shread their paint off with my Prius key.

I usually just look for a spot with a Prius parked in it and just park right on top of it.

This guy was right in front in the 2nd space. If you pull the truck straight in the bed sticks out into the road, so what difference does it make? Easy solution though, don't park in the first few spaces and be a selfish bastard :)

Saw a guy yesterday park his pickup taking up 4 spaces in the first 2 rows of spots.

If the bed sticks out in the road it obstructs the road and those attempting to drive, or emergency vehicles that may need the entire roadway just to navigate a parking lot. Most angled and perpendicular spaces are considered to be between 10 and 18 feet long, the truck I drive is approximately 22 feet long. Many parking lots barely accommodate vehicles driving both directions between rows of parked cars. Add in the extra footage of a truck bed hanging out into the lane and you on exacerbate the situation. Plus pedestrians are forced to walk further in the driving lane when they have to walk around the same truck bed. With the impatience of most drivers, I think taking a little more of the parking lot is a better choice than taking part of the road, my truck, their car and pedestrians are all safer. Maybe driving trucks for so long gives me a different outlook on it and I doubt anyone's mind will be changed. But, if the guy can't put it in the center of the spot give 'em hell.

I know some have an electronic lift capability, but it is for the whole vehicle. I think something is broken. It was making me nervous just looking at it and I was glad we were only doing 0-15 mph.

Reminds me of the time I saw a Ford Taurus with a flat tire just cruising in the right lane during rush hour on I-25. I thought they must just be looking for a safe place to pull over until it was two miles later and I couldn't catch them in traffic to tell them they had a flat!

Just scanned the last 12 pages. Im waiting to see a pic of my parking in here. 22' truck with 6 tires dont fit in many spots, and many times the lane isnt widen enough to actually make the turn. I park out in the middle of no mans land if I can usually. But Ive been known to pull partway through and take 2, or take 2 side by side. However, pulling through and taking 2 is only done when it make the lane actually usable, not hanging the truck waaaay out there. Not too often do I take 4. I do really enjoy taking out the trailer and snagging 6-7 spaces (depending on trailer)!
