View Full Version : Brazil court orders YouTube to remove anti-Islam film
Really Brazil? The funny thing is this isn't the first time Brazil has "ordered" YouTube and their parent company Google to do anything. They ordered for the arrest of the head of Google's Brazil operations because they didn't take down a video that attacked a Mayoral candidate. So I guess Brazil is full of the lib-tardation and free speech is only free if it doesn't offend anyone.

Craziness, but keep in mind that (to the best of my knowledge), the US is the only nation which guarantees the right of free speech to it's citizens.
This is another example of why it's critical that the US not give up it's freedoms. We are the sole beacon which represents these values as a matter of the foundation of who we are. We set the example for the rest of the world to follow.
That is the crazy part though, YouTube is user based and the videos are uploaded to it from people all over the world. "Google has stated that they are not responsible for any offensive content."
Brazil does have freedom of speech, although not exactly like you or I would recognize.
In Brazil, freedom of expression is a Constitutional right. Article Five of the Constitution of Brazil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_Brazil) establishes that the expression of thought is free, anonymity being forbidden. Furthermore, the expression of intellectual, artistic, scientific, and communications activities is free, independently of censorship or license. However, there are legal provisions criminalizing the desecration of religious artifacts at the time of worship, hate speech, racism, defamation, calumny and libel. Brazilian Law also forbids "unjust and grave threats".
Historically, freedom of speech has been a right in Brazilian Law since the 1824 Constitution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Constitution_of_Brazil#Imperial_Con stitution_.281824.E2.80.931889.29) was enacted, though it was banned by the Vargas dictatorship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get%C3%BAlio_Vargas) and severely restricted under the military dictatorship in 1964–85 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_dictatorship_(Brazil)).
The order to arrest the Google exec was overruled by a higher court for the attack ad. But he was actually arrested yesterday for not taking down the "anti-islam" video

Brazil was more free a decade ago before they voted in Lula the socialist. Brazil was championed to be the next super power due to its massive natural resources and so on, before the labor union leaderships took over many of the industries.
We are heading that way, folks.
