View Full Version : Baby's got camo
For my birthday yesterday I outfitted my wife for the upcoming elk season. Best time I've had for a long time. She's really excited about the hunt.
Savage 111 7mm mag. On sale at Sportsmans for $354.
Hunting Gear $541.
Seeing my babe this excited about something. Priceless

Is that rifle hanging on wires ? [ROFL1]
She was probably a little warm in all that gear waiting for you to take the pic. Nice![Sniper]

Yea, gonna have to cut the stock down. The rifle is surprisingly light. She can handle the weight, the stock is too long for her to see through the scope properly. I got off of work early today, gonna go see how she shoots off the bench this afternoon.

Didn't catch the camo joke did ya ? [ROFL1]
Her 1st five shot group after I sighted it in. Not bad considering she's never shot a rifle bigger than a .243 and the stock is too long for her.

Uh yea that's what we were out doing. She was learning to shoot. First five shots from a magnum rifle that didn't fit her well. I'm pleased. It'll get better. 4" group, she did call one bad shot said she jerked the trigger. Definitely something to work with.
Looks like minute of elk to me! Tell her great job and keep practicing!

+1 Great grouping for the situation, until you get that stock cut. Sure she'll knock it out. Congrats!

Pretty impressive for that 7mm Rem Mag. There is no way in hell my wife would shoot mine.

7mm Rem Mag can be a handful. While teaching her to shoot be careful to limit the number of rounds she shoots. Too many rounds in too short a time, and you might reinforce a flinch.
Good luck to you both this season.

Cool deal! If thats going to be her permanent rifle you may want to consider a muzzle break for the rifle so it shoots about like a .243.
Yea, I agree. She's sharpening up her shooting skills with a .22 trainer for the time being. She handled the 7mm well. I'm having her shoot it like she will in the field. This time it was rested on a backpack on a boulder. She'll start shooting it off hand when the stock is shortened or replaced. She's weighing the pros and cons of a muzzle break. If she wants one I'll have my gunsmith put one on.

she looks good in the first picture, nice orange, but where is she in the second one? I can't see her...
man I love seeing excitement on people's faces when taking on a new pursuit! You are a lucky man... I hope you have it figured out which of you is taking the first shot!

Still arguing about that one.

I wish my girlfriend would hunt with me, she is all about guns but would cry if she killed anything.

When Dad took me out deer hunting the first couple times, I took the first shot, and he'd shoot as soon as he heard my gun go off in case I missed, which I did the first time. He figured it would be better to take two shots at it than to take a chance on me wounding it and have to follow a blood trail for a hundred yards through thick brush. Just my $0.02 [Beer]
