View Full Version : Present for a ‘super’ Liberal?

My wife’s twin cousin (they were born the same day) is having his 30th B-Day party on Fri and I’m looking for a present for him…. Of course there was no mention of my wife in any of the emails. He’s a lawyer and an up and comer in the Democratic party (Ritter and other’s from the party were at his wedding last year, but of course we were sat at the very back table… it’s almost like we were in a different room). He was most recently a law clerk for Colorado Supreme Court Judge Monica Marquez.

I’m looking for an appropriate gift for him other than the suggested donation in his name to a liberal cause.

My first thought is a lifetime membership to the NRA but unfortunately he can cancel that. Any other ideas that aren’t too condescending are appreciated.

My fondest memories of him come from my Brother in Law who told him a couple months ago that he should get a real job and stop living off of taxpayers.

Buy him one of Mark Levin's books.

If it didn't say 'A Conservative Manifesto' in the title I might be able to get him to read it. Too bad there isn't a way to implant it (like the Matrix) so he couldn't avoid it.

Maybe I'll just buy myself an M16 in his name and present him with a "Thank You" card. :)

Ok, not in his name but you get the idea.

Get him a clue.

I know a lot of liberals but he's the only liberal wanna-be politician I know and it's extremely difficult for me to have any discussion with him.

I’ve been part of their family for 12 years and when I met his wife’s father 2 years ago he told us we had a lot in common since we were new to the family.

Who knows that may have been the first time he noticed me.

How about something that isn't politically linked at all, but is just a gift he'd appreciate? A gift card to REI or B&N, perhaps?

Look i got the same deal only worse. My step mom is a lawyer high up in the democratic party. Nice enough person but we will never see eye to eye on anything, I keep my mouth shut and my responses vaugue. Reply to all questions with generalities. No long visits. She considers me a basket case hillbilly. Shes right. I consider her a basket case city girl. Im right. We will never change the other. Why argue? Life is short its family. Buy him a bottle of bourbon keep your mouth shut and exit stage left (pun intended) Cease fire in family zones in effect.

PS my only screw up our last meeting
her; "i brought you a gift"
me "what caliber"

The handgun is hilarious. I can’t see an easy way for him to get rid of it other than some guns for something event which we don’t have many of. Since he’s working on a squeaky clean persona I’m 99.999% sure he doesn’t have anything in his past that would preclude him from owning a firearm.

The other plus it that my wife doesn’t really care if she ever speaks with that part of the family so that may be the perfect gift.

If he really has some balls he’d legally sell it and donate the money to a charity of his choice. Then I’d have some respect for him.

I'm thinking a Kel-tec and a box of hollow points.

Make a donation to Mitt Romney in his name or buy him a set of all the Romney-Ryan trinkets. Better yet, make a donation in his name to the Young America Foundation -- one of the ones where they inscribe his name on a brick. :D

If he had let me learn anything more about him in the last 12 years other than his political views I'd be inclined to go this route. My father in law is very liberal as well but he's a great guy.

The donation is another great route. I haven't searched yet but does anyone know a local or national charity that works with youth, shooting and gun safty other than the NRA. I don’t want to give him such and obvious target like the NRA.

I have done it w/ a liberal cousin of mine. He too was a licensed banker - so I know he'd passed background etc no issue. He was too stingy to just destroy it, didn't know if its 'ethical' for him to sell it, so he keeps it..and guess what.. He starts to come to the range w/ me. In a way, it's an empowerment of personal freedom and right for him. He is still a lefty, but has opened his mind a lot the last couple years.

That is a GREAT story; if I knew it would turn out that way I'd get him a Glock.

I have a SPIN STOPS HERE Coffee mug. Leave that on the table where he is sitting for the gala event.
Or, Surprise! A Male Stripper.

Screw it, why waste money you earned, on him. Drop a couple of condoms on his table and walk away.

USA Shooting, US Shooting Sports Foundation or the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

Oh yeah, the Pikes Peak Council Shooting Sports Committee or Camp Alexander will gladly take your donation directed toward youth, shooting and gun safety and use it to purchase firearms, ammo and improve the shooting sports facilities for future shooters.

Guys...the last thing you want to do is arm those who would one day use it to disarm you. I am serious.

Buy him a nice silver flasque and some alcohol.

You could even engrave it.

Buy him a piece of art. A silver keychain. A comfy down quilt.

But the last thing you should be doing is arming him.

A couple of Heinlein books. I love watching liberals read Heinlein, they don't realize the political underpinnings until its too late.
