Am getting a Colt "äccurized" AR15 Match Target Model CR6724, will be shooting for accuracy at 200 yds. Have heard very little about any need to replace the trigger with a match or target trigger.
Interested in any/all experience or ideas regarding this matter as I believe "light trigger pull" is essential to accuracy.
If suggesting a replacement then which do you suggest, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Wizzzard

What is the foot pound needed for the stock trigger? How far can it be reduced?
Do you all have access to Geissele triggers over there?
If so look into those, they run great

Cat 4 and ITAR required to import it to Australia. I'd check with a local gunsmith instead.
Stock colt trigger is the same as any other ar.. 8lbs.

A stock trigger can be cleaned up and stoned and lower it to 4 or 5 lbs

True a stock trigger can be cleaned up but they can be short lived as well. The components are case hardened and sometimes this can be quite thin. Too thin and you get into softer steel and that nice polished crisp edge will degrade.
This is especially true if you are trying to get a match quality break.
You are dollars ahead by investing in a true match grade trigger.
If dollars or in your case Kangaroo chips are tight Rock River offers a nice drop in setup.
If you are willing to drop the extra dime the aforementioned Giessle is an outstanding choice.
Jewell, Jard, Chip McCormick and Timney all offer top shelf items as well.

Yes, this one is fantastic.
I am currently running this one

And yes BP is correct the stock trigger is case hardened and in time will degrade. With that being said I probably have 6000 or 7000 rounds through mine since I polished it and I havnt seen any difference yet but I'm sure its coming.
I agree with BP. Regarding the Rock River drop in he refers to, I suspect he means this one. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemDetail.aspx?sku=ARR-663
I have been running this exact trigger in one of my AR's for about 18 months and it's terrific. I also have a gieselle SSA-E (http://geissele.com/supersemi-automaticenhancedssa-etrigger.aspx) in my 24" varminter and truthfully, these two triggers are closer in feel than most would expect. They're close enough that I'd just get another Rock river trigger since the price difference is quite a bit, if I were in need of another.
For me, the three most important components in an accurate rifle are, in order of importance, barrel, trigger, and a stock that fits. I find it difficult to shoot well consistently with a heavy, creepy trigger. Better shooters can probably tolerate a bad trigger more effectively.
I'm also a fan of the Geissele triggers. I pulled a number of different models recently trying to decide what to put in a new rifle. In the end I went with this:

It's one of their non adjustable triggers, but it's the lighter pull weight version. (It also has a flat trigger bow which I like a lot. Thanks to Hoser for pointing that out for me) For ultra precision shooting, it's too heavy for an average shooter like myself. I chose it because this is more of a field rifle and I wanted the safety of a little more pull weight.
I've tried the adjustables, and they are pretty dang good. I wouldn't hesitate to have one on a precision rifle not intended for field use.
As I understand it, the big deal about Giesselle is the very fast lock time. I don't recall the numbers, but I read an article a few years ago that put their lock times at roughly half of most others. That may have changed, but at the time of the article, it was a big deal.

A quick testimonial... Rob at Bowers Tactical installed a geissele trigger onto the latest AR, and I got to say, I like McCormick trigger better.

Which Geissele?
There are a number of different models with differing specs for different applications (see Summary here -- http://geissele.com/pdfs/TriggerSummarySheet.pdf), and what works for one person/application may be a poor choice for a different person/application.
