It will say it on the bbl.. Most if not all of the Model 10's were not +p rated.
Yea, its not stamped for +P. Just wanted to ask before i attempted to run it thru.

ONLY in an extreme emergency, even then don't be surprised if you have function issues.
How much +p you have? have a few standard 125gr 130 and some 115? standard loads available. pm me, again:)

I have a member interested in the +p ammo already. Just wanted to mske sure i dont trade it if i didnt have to.
Not a S&W expert but it is my understanding that any S&W after they started the model numbers on the frame are safe with +P.

I don't think I'd run much +p though a dash 6 especially lighter weight bullets but the later 10-8 is fine with +p in my experience. You aren't likely to blow up the gun but the wear will be excessive and you may see some function issues as Jim indicated or worst case a cracked frame. If you must run +p try to stay away from lighter than 125gr and make sure not to allow lead to build up in the forcing cone.
Slightly OT to the OP, but don't run +P ammo in a mid 80's Sig P226 with full on mud rails (scalloped inside the frame rail groove).

I have never understood the thinking behind a +p in 9mm and up. Isn't a pass through good enough? If you need more velocity get a 10mm.
This will be my first revolver and i had a box of +p ammo from i dont know where. I didnt know there was a diffrence till i read online. Just didnt want to ruin a nice wheel gun!

I left it at your crib... you can return them to me just whenever you have a chance. Thanks for keeping it for me.

True Dat brudder, true dat.
Occasional use of +P ammo in a steel framed, heavy barrel, S&W Model 10 probably will not hurt it, as long as you are not going through 50 rounds at a time at the range. Use only factory +P loads, never +P+ or +P reloads.
+P is defense ammo. Even in some guns rated for +P, running a few hundred rounds can lead to excess wear on the gun. This can throw off the timing or loosen things up. Should be okay, but it will be hard on the gun.

I heard shooting people with +p Resulted in Acute lead poisoning and deceleration trauma.
So I would have to say it depends on your position in the situation.
