View Full Version : Better blow out your sprinklers today!!!!
Dang, yesterday they said it was gonna drop down to 28 degrees. Now they are saing 20 degrees tonight in the Springs. Better at least shut off the water and open the petcocks. Wrap some blankets around the pipes. [Beer]

Anyone have a good guy that does this? I just moved in and guess I need to get it done ASAP.
gound wont freeze for a while, just wrap/cover anything exposed and you'll be ok
Yea going to blow mine out next weekend.
What did you guys pay? I don't have a g big enough compressor to do it myself. I was expecting around $30.00 and ended up coughing up over double!
Need to get mine done. Looking at the weather for the week shows 60's-70's though. Gotta love Colorado!
Even with a small compressor you can blow it out at the valve.

I do have a decent compressor. I just need to get off my ass and do it! [Beer]
Ouch! I just do my own. For the rest of you all if you get through tonight you should be good for a while.

Tooo late.. went shooting... that and I need to break down the freakin' Swamp Cooler[Bang]
Did mine two days ago, and it has dropped below freezing both nights. Last year I left a hose on my spigot when that early snowfall hit. I did not even remember that I did it until this spring when I turned it on only to watch water run out from the inside of my wall. Well now I have a cleverly disguised "heater vent" on the other side of the wall just in case I need to get in there and solder another one in.
JEEZ, just got mine done.
I have an issue with one of my zones but turning on when commanded by the control panel. got it blown out manually, but i'll have it on the list of things to check now.

Neah, windows and doors will get us by. House is well insulated and heat doesn't affect it too much. Less than cold pouring in the basement from the cooler still being installed anyway. (I feed the basement and push through the house)

So does anyone want to come over and help me with mine or do it? Or know someone?

I was thinking of doing mine tomorrow. I'd offer to help but I'm gimp'd at the moment and not even sure how I'm going to move my compressor to get it done.
If you guys have a 'service' do it.. i've been getting quotes for $10/zone.. Yeah.. no..
Haven't been getting papered w/ fliers for aeration/sprinkler blow out this month yet.. wtf..

Trigger I got mine done today and my compressor shit on me half way through.. I got it rigged to work (fuckin thing broke it's motor mounts and fell off.. cheap ass shit) anyways..
If you want to use it I can show you how it's done. I can't move the compressor by myself though... hell i'll show you how to do it w/ a little compressor if you get your hands on one.
What's your schedule like? Seeing as I work in Aurora I could swing by after.. you still got those fucked up hours?

1. Buy a used scuba tank off craigslist
2. Fill it at any HPA station (auto shop, paint ball store etc) - I did mine at a local paintball place for $7
3. 1 scuba tank should last few years worth of winterizing your lawn.

This just sounds like a bad DIY for the average homeowner. How do you regulate the pressure being run through the system?

I over simplified that post. It's setup for air tool too - regulator and quick attach/detach adapter.
Scuba tank is actually a good one. Seen several people do it.

How much does a scuba tank cost?
I never blow water out of sprinkler. Yes, my sprinkler system and pipe is perfectly fine. I already know the density of water at 4c, -15c or at boiling point.
I wanna do it this year. Cheapest was $20 for entire thing. Can you guys recommad a good and cheaper place for Thornton?

Had a local company from Aurora come over today, Gorman Sprinklers. Guys name was Lee. He was very helpful, showed me how to do it next year and cost $45.
