Man, I would love to adopt a retired MWD. But, I just couldn't give him the time and attention that he deserves right now. I'm sure somebody will pick this guy up soon and give him a good home, though. Good luck, Nero!

If I get a fourth dog the wife will kill me. I am sure he would love bring with my three other boys.
Time and attention are the things I lack to give him... I'd fix his elbow right up though.. damn AF not taking care of their dogs needs..

Yeah with a vet corps on staff you would think they would have given him the surgery already. On second thought I would trust my Doc more for that surgery. If it is screwed up it is hard to fix.

Dysplasia, one of the biggest reasons the USAF prefers Belgium Malinois o Shepards. I'd love to adopt that fella, but the dysplasia is only going to get worse and there isn't much you can you for it. Surgery is a short term fix. Usually, Sheppards have serious hip dysplasia issues. First time I've heard of one getting elbow dysplasia.
I used to work with the K9's @ Peterson AFB a bit... I was "wrap certified" to be the bad guy the dogs would attack. Those dogs certainly earned my respect.

A guy I work with got a retired AF drug sniffing Malanois, he is a super cool dog and trained to the max. He lets kids wool him all over and when he gets tired he just walks off. As long as that dog is around his kids will never bring any dope using friends around..

Maybe the kid will forget and try to sneak in one night after burning a few.. 'Dad having this dog is SOOO not fair!'

Not the AF that takes care of them. The Army is the one that takes care of all working dogs. The main care facility is on Ft Carson and we have small facilities on 4 AF bases in the surrounding states.
As to why the surgery has not been performed I have no idea as we have state of the art facilities on Carson. 10th group has there own vets but everything else comes through us.
Looks like a cool dog, buy man that is a lot of responsibility there. I always wanted a dog that was trained to that level, but I doubt now that I would have the time and energy that he needs. I have seen those dogs in action, and it is nothing to be messed with.

I look at it this way. After being attacked many times by Military dogs he is still here to talk about it. How many others could say the same? [Coffee]

Wow... What a gorgeous dog. As much as I'd like to give him a home and take care of him I don't think Nero would be a good fit with 4 JRTs and a Corgi. They'd probably just look like furry little snacks.

You would be surprised. My Rottie and Shepherd love Jack Russells. The only dog that tired my Rottie out was a Jack Russell.
Man he is one good lookin boy! I wish I could give him a home also but I already have one and my 14mo old daughter plus a retarded Cockapoo or whatever it is lol. It's the wifes dog but he's loyal.
