How that I have two ARs I'm looking at a new carrying system. Not sure if I want a hard or soft case. Show me how your carry your ARs to the range, etc.

Currently I just have a soft case with pockets in from for the mags.

i'm sure this is entirely unhelpful to you, but i'm in the same boat and have been looking at the Plano Gun Guard

http://www.amazon.com/Plano-108360-Guard-Tactical-Case/dp/B0029KKWT8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1349637386&sr=8-2&keywords=plano+gun+guard

i have heard tell that wal-mart had this as a door buster last Christmas and were selling them for $40. I have never even seen one in a WM. Jensen's has this case for a few bucks cheaper than Amazon.

I have the same issue and I checked out a couple of bags over at Bowers that hold two AR's. IIRC they were in the $90 or so range. Soon as I make up my mind on which I want I am probably going to pick one up.

This is what I have that works for me-it's a 5.11 that was on clearance at LAPG:

Soft case for local ranges. Hard cases (Pelican) for travel.

I prefer something cheap and over the years have picked up several youth baseball bags from Goodwill/Thrift Stores. These make for a very low key way of transporting locally.

YMMV

Be safe.

I run hard cases for the bolt guns all the time. Softies for the AR's, most of the time, but sometimes hard cases.

I have 2 of these, one in 36" and one in 42" mine are black though.

Each will carry 2 rifles, 2 pistols, and enough mags to complement each.

I've been looking at the Drago packs, I think I may grab one of those next.

I alternate between a smaller Pelican when only flying with one or two guns, and a larger Kalispel when traveling with more. The Kalispel is a lot slimmer than the comparable Pelican, and about as indestructible, but weighs a ton.

http://www.johnnyego.com/dump/2011-08-08_23-30-25_391.jpeg

When I pack it just right, I can get three small guns or two larger ones in it:
http://www.johnnyego.com/dump/rangeday2/IMG_4890a.jpg

The stupidest thing I did was purchase the first one without wheels.

For pistols, I use a Craftsman Electrician's Toolbox. A little more discrete than a typical range bag.

Overflow frequently goes into a Husky tool bag:

Got a cheap 'Tac Force' case that will hold smaller stuff:

Lets me carry 15 or so handguns, a small rifle, and a small shotgun in just the corner of my truck bed:
http://www.johnnyego.com/dump/rangeday5/rd13.JPG

I use a Rigid tool carrier to haul mags, ammo, and an AR when I don't care about discretion:

JE's set up is more impressive in person. Unless you do a double take, that husky tool bag does a nice job blending in the gun and accessories.

I use a combination of soft and hard cases for rifles and hard cases for pistols. My AR is a Bushmaster so I use that case for transport to the range. I have a heavy duty aluminum 2 rifle case for flying but that is all I use it for because it is so large.

I also have some small GP duffle type and such that do not look like gun cases and a carry-on size suitcase converted to carry hand guns and ammo when traveling by car or truck.

Anything good come out in the last year? I'm looking for recommendations on a good soft case. I like the cases that hold two rifles with some mag storage. I have a couple cheapo cases that work fine but I'm always taking at least two rifles somewhere...

I've learned to appreciate my double rifle case even more now. I has ample storage for two rifles, a few pistols, mags and best of all it has the option to sling it on your back like a backpack!

I went to a friends house and had to carry all out stuff 200 years to shoot because of all the moisture. The trucks would have ate that land up. So slinging my bag on my back with all my firearms freed up my hands for the ammo cans.

Just something to think about. My next investment is a pelican case.

Every gun is in a case of some type, some hard and some soft, mostly soft cases for compact storage. Even in the safe cause I hate safe dings. I have two heavy duty aluminum cases, one double pistol, one double rifle for travel if they are out of my immediate control such a flying.

Sounds about what I'm looking for. It would be nice to throw in a pistol or two as you mentioned. Which brand/model is your double case? I have no point of reference on this.

I have two Voodoo 36" double rifles cases and I love them. In each case, you can hold 2 ARs, 8+ Pmags, 2 pistols in padded compartments, other range gear such as a staple gun, targets, ear pro, etc.

I love this bag for my AR pistol. Has molle and I added surplus army magazine pouches and other things like that. Also have my standard Pelican 1400 for my smaller handguns.

I have a Galati 42 inch double rifle case that is pretty well built. It is designed to run the two rifles side by side but because of the way the internal strap system works I can fit the two rifles on one side better.

Not to give you the standard internet option "it depends" but I think where you are carrying to makes a huge difference. I have a number of nice hardcases, and even some semi-matching custom-type cases (like an Uzi branded case for my Uzi for example) but honestly if I'm just packing up for the range, I prefer the cheap zip open soft cases. You can just stuff a gun in one or open them flat to put your guns on in the back of the truck/SUV, etc. Stack another one on top of that, etc. So long as the guns aren't banging together. Hard cases are awesome, especially with good wheels and handles. But they are super heavy and more of a pain than anything 90% of the time when you don't really need them. Custom cut-out foam is also awesome, but do you really want to be taking things out of the safe, disassembling them to fit in the foam, packing them up and driving 15-60mins or whatever only to unpack them again?

Anyway my votes are:

1) everyday/range use: ammo cans and cheap soft cases
2) travel: quality hardcase like pelican/hardigg - with a softcase inside if you have the cash
3) showoff time with friends/ar15.co: nice foam-cut cases etc

If you're carrying 2 guns most/all of the time, I'd stick with the double rifle case with backpack straps. I have one of those and it's great. Backpack on your back, ammo can in one hand, range bag in the other hand.

I can second the Voodoo double rifle soft case, I use it when transporting a couple of AR's to 3 gun events. Plenty of room for mags and extras, and it keeps them apart from one another. Lots of room for pistols if you want. (I keep them in their own case though.) Well built.

If traveling, spend the money on a good hard case like a Pelican. Just heading to the range, use any bag available.
