View Full Version : Question about being attacked with a Taser

So at work last night I was having a discussion with two female employees, apparently one just broke up with her boyfriend who according to her is a physicopath and is known to sit outside the work place in his car. The other female says that if he does this again she will taser him.
Now I'm pretty sure if you taser someone without probable cause its considered an attack? So say if you got tasered for no reason could you legally draw your firearm in defense of yourself?

Sounds to me like you need to distance yourself and contact a lawyer.

The "other female" is asking for a bad time... don't know the laws but if an unknown came up to me and started to taze, I'd do my best to draw and fire, if you can. That could be a fun Myth Busters series... I've been tazed/stun gun in a training... not fun. Hurt like hell. My automatic response was to start laughing and I did hold on for about 5 seconds (a LIFETIME) and then I was on the ground.. Not a bad showing for a guy that never did that before.. and probably won't ever again! HAHA

Another example of how stupid people are.[Help]
If there is a possible threat in the parking lot prohibiting her from getting to her vehicle/anywhere safely then she needs to call the police and not try to Rambo the situitation herself.

This... Restraining orders work too.
As far as getting tasered, I will say that we mere mortals do not have access to LE issue tasers, so they would just be those little stun gun things you can get from a catalog. I've been hit with one, they hurt like hell, but didn't nearly have the punch that the X26 has.

You can buy M and X 26 tasers.... They're just not cheap. Just gotta know where to look.

At the 2008 Shot Show, Taser International and Playboy had a booth with a Nascar vehicle and some bunnies. If you volunteered to get tazed with their new line of tasers, you got a free taser for your shop. My buddy and I signed up.
I can say this about myself: even the 'lesser' taser was enough to render me semi-insensate for a good chunk of time. No way I'd be able to draw and fire right after getting shot.

Did a bunny taze you?
It overrides your muscles. No way you can do anything but let out a scream/howl when it hits you. I saw a fellow "ride the buffalo" for the full 5 seconds. I thought I'd seen the first death by taser after he melted into the carpet once it quit shocking him.
I took a couple second blast and I could recall for months afterwards each and every pulse it sends into you. Knocked me down like a truck hit me. If you could get hit with it and could still move let alone draw your weapon then you are a freak of nature.

As far as legality of tasering someone for sitting in a car in a parking lot.. I can see assault w/ a deadly.. even though it's a LTL she has not been properly trained I'm sure. Even when trained people have died from tasers.
She would have no right unless he approached in a threatening manner.. you can NOT be the aggressor in any sense. No walking up to a douche and starting shit and then 'defending' yourself.. it does not work like that.
Restraining orders work? HHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! Tell that to this lady (http://www.denverpost.com/recommended/ci_19627798)!
They work like a cop being there when someone breaks into your home.. She should go for a TRO and attempt a PRO she just must show grounds for the Perm. Being a 'psycho' in her opinion does not count. She could claim stalking and that would help.. but I digress.

Actually, the C2 is the same thing, just a little less distance. Easily available from Blue Star Police Supply, 5280 Armory, etc.

Did a bunny taze you?
Sadly, no. They just watched and laughed.
Anyone that can form a coherent sentence immediately after being tazed, much less draw, aim, and fire a handgun, is a real badass. Oddly enough, because they work on electrically induced tetany, the better shape you're in, the more you're affected. So maybe the guy that can fight through it is a real fatass...[LOL]

I don't think there is that level of badass... from what I remember it froze me for 5 seconds, could not move, and then I was on the floor. I couldn't even scream, just a little chuckle/laugh. I'm honestly grateful that I went to the restroom before that... Took me about an hour to recover fully. Never something I want to do again.

Awwww...did Widdle Byte get his feeler hurt? [ROFL1]
I doubt you're well padded enough to be insulated from a tazer. My stepkid works for DSD, and says he's only seen one guy get tazed and remain standing, and the guy was about 500 lbs and seriously jacked up on PCP. The 3rd tazer put him on the ground...

you Hurts both of them...
I need more doughnuts.
I have done my 5 second lightning ride and it was the worst pain I have felt in my life. Drawing, shooting, fighting, etc. while being hit/directly after being hit are off the table. I know for cops a taser is considered lethal force. So if someone points a taser at LE they can/likely will be shot. The cop could be incapacitated and could be stripped of his duty weapon so lethal force is an accepted response.
