Well, I managed to fall into another incredible deal on a gun today...
A buddy of mine calls me up and says his mom wants to sell his late fathers 10/22 - would I like to buy it?
I ask how much and he says - "Well, she said she'd sell it to you for $100.00"

Now, I've seen this gun, it's a six digit - SN 1228** - a 1967 walnut stock, MINT 10/22 - maybe 50 rounds through it... just a really sweet specimen...
I say, you don't want it?
If it's a question of money - I'll buy it FOR you...
He says "No, I have his Marlin lever action rifle... and if she's going to sell it - I'd like to keep it in the family..."
So, I avert my eyes and say "You know, just a plain Jane used 10/22 will fetch between 200 - 250, depending..."
He says "Nah, she said $100.00 - so you should buy it now."
Well, if you gonna put it that way..."

So, I gave him $120.00 for this:

"Really" LNIB 1967 Ruger 10/22 with walnut stock in original box and maunal - and an unopened Ram-Line 30 round mag.

Very nice. I inherited a circa 1974 10-22 that I like a lot. Just something about the early guns. [Beer] And I would place the value on that a little closer to $400 to the right person.

Those old RamLine 30 round mags run great. My Dad had an old 10/22 he bought in the late 70s that I must've ran over 2000 rounds of cheapo "Thunderbolt" .22 through -- all rapid fired, never cleaned . . . and that rifle never had a single jam. The new ones aren't that good.

From what I can see, that looks like one of the nicest and best shape vintage 10/22s I've ever seen. Fantastic score, and congrats!

That's like one I scored off an old man maybe in his 80's. Early 1960's 10/22 in excellent shape for $120. I felt a little bad modifying it, but kept all the original parts if I ever want to put it back to stock.
Congrats

If my 10/22 had wood that nice I'd have never replaced it with plastic...wow that is one nice Ruger. I hope you keep it a safe queen forever.

I was born this month in 1967. Being that this is such a coincidence, you should give it to me for my B-Day. [BDay]

Well, I was born this month in '64 - so I'll be more than happy to trade you for a 1964 version - say serial #1?
1964 - serial #'s 1- 452

Looks like I am going to get a chance to take her to the range on Saturday...

I think this deal even beats the Western Field .30-30 (Marlin 336) lever gun I got for $125.00
