I've seen tons of Prius' at the jax and sportsmans in Loveland. I love telling Prius owners they are destroying the environment way faster than my turbo'd 4 or high compression v-6. They deny it, then I tell them I am an environmental sustainability major and have done several reaserch papers on it. Red faces of anger galore! :)

Not to mention the nickel is mined mostly in sudsburry Ontario, shipped to china to be processed into nickel foam, then shipped to Japan for the batteries to be built, then the finished batteries are sent to the plants where the car is built. So aside from the nightmare of disposing the batteries, more energy goes into making the batteries than the hybrid fans realize. Side note euro diesels are getting over 90 mpg in the city :)

They always seem shocked when you tell them their Prius has already done a million miles before it got to the dealer.

Curious what you've found with regard to diesels, with it is a less refined fuel, and higher mpg than a gasser for any application.
