Took ten GI mags full of ammunition and unloaded them by hand last night. Man, talk about making your hands hurt. I think I might have to invest in one of those LULA things if I do that again. [Coffee]

Try using a empty casing and push em out that way. How were the spring in the mag?

How's a stripper clip going to get the ammo out? [Stooge]

Do I use the stripper clips to push the rounds out of the magazines?

Take the first round out by hand, then grasp it firmly and use the rim to push the rest out of the mag from back to front. Takes just a few seconds.

I bet if you pay the stripper enough she would empty the magazines......

If it's not match ammo, some reason not to use the tip of the first round to push out the rest? I've done it that way always, not striking fast and hard to hit the primer. (Kinda come from the side so dont think I even touch primer.)

Just got the maglula for pistols. Like it so far, takes some use to get used to rhythm.

Use the extractor groove at the back of the first round you removed to push out rounds - much better than using the bullet tip.

LULA's definitely faster and easier though.

This is what I do... when I had to unload my magazines to transport to NE (put the rounds on stripper clips) I took the first round out, then used it to push the rest out. For 7, full 30-round mags it took maybe a minute and a half... [Beer]

I have the lula for AR's... for large pistols, small ones..

I can't tell you enough how awesome they are..

and unloading a mag with one of those.. easier than ronin whining about his fat coworker.

Just put this on a friend's Facebook yesterday bitching about the whole abortion issue... I thought it was appropriate here...

Place mag in zip lock bag. Remove floor plate from bottom of mag. Rounds now bagged in zip lock bag. Replace follower, spring, and floor plate in mag.

If I only have a few to do, I use my thumb or the first round. If I have lots of mags to empty (and I am not shooting the ammunition), above is an easy method.

Be safe.

I only put 28 rounds in 30 rd mags, which seems to make it easier to unload by hand. If it is hurting your thumb just put on a glove.

Or spend the $26 on a Maglula and never worry about your fingers hurting again. If you cut the crap out of that video he unloads, reloads and unloads that mag again in 43 seconds (6 seconds for each unload) and he doesn't look like he's trying to go fast. Plus they are supposed to be easier on the mag lips extending mag life and reducing jams. I have one for my rifles and pistols, just ordered the .22 one as well. They are worth their weight in gold.

So I guess the first question that no one dared to ask first is why did you have 10 mags loaded and all of a sudden want to empty them? [Coffee]

I keep ten mags loaded at the house all the time. I have had the same ten loaded for a while and decided I would unload them and load that ammunition into ten different mags for a while.

Why do this?

Mostly I was bored and wanted to play with gun related stuff. [Coffee]

I definitely understand that! I cleaned about 15 guns this week...just because!

I have a guy at work that hates to clean his guns. When they get totally filthy he brings them to me and I tear them down and give them a good cleaning.

Maybe I should start my own gun cleaning service. Free of charge, of course. [Beer]
