My wife and I made tamales last night for the first time and thought I would share with everyone. At least the pics anyway.

They are tasty. I ate four or so last night and I am already at three for today. I was hoping to take them to elk camp next week but I am not sure if they will last that long. The wife should be freezing them today while I am at work.

Im just not sure I can trust her alone with them.

You left them unsecured???

We make them around Christmas time. We put either a green or black olive in most. LOVE 'em!

Hey I am local and I am the official Tamale tester. I'll let you know how they are! They look good! Any spicy ones in that batch?

Sorry I have a few taste testers in line already. I did not make any actual spicy ones but I did put some pepper Jack cheese with the pork in a few and a few with green chillies in them.

Once we get official word from the taste testers I would like to know if this is this a secret family recipe or are you able to share?[Coffee]

I've been that for a while now. I was simply stating that no one was going to like him after he refused to share.. call me 'psychic'.

I see people liking him if he shared, but the future on that is hazy. Magic 8 ball says he will not share.

I've been addicted to both at one time or another. Now I'm only on the bacon. [Tooth]

No secret family recipe here. I just made a pork shoulder in the crockpot Like I would for pulled pork Sandwiches, them I googled "tamale recipe" for the masa and picked the one that sounded good.

I think they are pretty good for the first go around. The masa was a wee bit thick on the first few I made but once I got a handle on it it was easy. I like the cheese ones, too.

My wife found a recipe for chocolate tamales tonight. I will report how that comes out. [Tooth]

You are right. No sharing on this go. HATE ME IF YOU MUST but I still have the tamales. One day I will get crazy and make 20-30 dozen, I only got about 6 dozen out this time, and I may share. It is dependent on the freezer room available.

I LOVE a good Tamale. This thread is making me Jones for one now.

However, I've never seen one that wasn't closed on both ends, as in all sealed up. ???
