Just trying to gain some knowledge on the AR platform while I'm building my first. I've been a machinist for the past 16yrs in the automotive racing industry with a manufacturer here in town. Glad I can be a part of this community. Thanks!

The company I work for makes custom forged and billet crankshafts. Everything is done in-house including heat treating and nitriding. We've got some cool machinery that I'd like to use on improving some of the AR's parts.

Will do Z. We do have a magnaflux in-house that I use from time to time on my gun parts. I also check my parts for hardness (Rc) and surface finish (Rm) cause I'm a geek like that.

Yup,allways check hardness before and after machining ;) Also check for cracks as well..
I use to work at a casting foundry and it's amazing to see what happens after machining.
We made all kinds of gun parts,too bad I couldn't bring my work home [Tooth]
