Has anyone had part b-13 (a roll pin) in that diagram walk out and cause the bolt to jam?
Gave me hell trying to diagnose and I'd never heard of that happening before. Hopefully she runs good now.

Pretty unlikely for a roll pin to lose tension. If it did there would have to be a contributing factor somewhere in the food chain.

When I tapped it back into position it required considerable force. I'm guessing it must have been installed wrong from the factory or maybe a previous owner farted around with it.

I should have thought to take pictures of the pin and receiver while I had it apart. You could see damage to the pin and a corresponding groove in the receiver where they had rubbed. At least that was my best guess, I'm far from a professional gunsmith.

If it took that much force something is FUBAR. While a roll pin in good shape takes a dedicated effort to send home it should not take force.
Was the firing pin properly lined up before driving the pin in? If not there is a chance the firing pin may be damaged.

Defining the force used may indicate my lack of experience. It took solid whacks from my hammer against the punch, but not more than the other roll pins I have removed/installed.
The firing pin moved freely afterwards and leaves a healthy dent in spent cartridges, Does that make sense? Is there anything "obvious" to a pro that I should pay attention to?


(I'm trying to find a way to blame Jim for all this since I bought it from him... haha just kidding Jim) :)

I'd say the firing pin spring is f'd up then. should have a roll pin coming out. not enough pressure on it then.

I have 5 10/22s and never had any of them do this. one has easily over 50,000 rounds through it.

The previous owner must have farted around with it and did not put the pin in right.

I have four or five 10/22's and one has over 300,000rds thru it.
I have worked on about 56 10/22's now and never had that problem.
