Background:
My wife and I are expecting and I have gone with her to every doc visit since February. It's so cool to hear all the stuff about your new kid and the ultrasounds are freaking amazing. I mean you can actually SEE you're unborn child and see her move and practice breathing and stuff...unreal.

Story:
It's been weekly doctor visits since last week because we're getting close (<4 weeks til due), and I couldn't get to last week's visit, on Wednesday - the 1st one I missed.

Of course, this week's visit (on Wednesday) was "abnormal" and my wife had unusually high blood pressure. SERIOUSLY high. Apparently, this isn't that uncommon but it is still very serious as serious damage can happen to both the kid and the mom if the condition persists.

So we had today's "extra" visit (which I was sure to attend). Doc basically says "Holy shit! Your f*cking blood pressure is out of control! You need to get to the hospital ASAP!".

I ask, "You mean right now?"

The doc says, "Yeah. Go there right now...they will be expecting you. You may very well have your baby tonight"

<overdrive adrenaline kicks in>[Help]

Somehow on the way to the hospital I manage to call Rondog and tell him that I cannot deliver his bacon, as we had a meet tentatively scheduled. At a red light I guess, I forget.

Get to the hospital and get my lovely wive all set with a nurse and all that shit. My wife tells me, "I'm OK...go get the other kids and (blah blah)" basically take them to someone who will take care of them for a few days while she gives birth and recovers.

I bolt to the hills, recover the other kids and secure a suitable refuge for them while my wife gives birth (we had this worked out already).

As we're driving out of the driveway my wife calls me and tells me that she has been released from the hospital and is waiting for me to pick her up, her blood pressure has stabilized. Another doc visit on Monday to see how her blood pressure is doing.

I literally have to run into my house to take a crap immediately. And I mean right now.

How the hell am I supposed to smoke 50 pounds on bacon on Monday if I'm doing all of this?

After all of the bullshit, I can finally get it off my chest. You guys rock. [Beer]

(let the "you haven't seen anything yet" rants begin!)

I cannot believe you let a silly thing like that get in the way of bacon.
You gotta lose some man card points for that or something......

Hope all is well GG and [Flower] to Mama

You do realize folks here will pay a premium for bacon that's smoking while the kid is being born, right? It'd need to be wrapped in special gold foil!!

The prophecy speaks of a child born amidst a cornucopia of bacon. He is to be the Pariah of Pork, and reign supreme over all that is delicious and crispy.

Near miss there. I'd suggest buying Civilization V or the new Warcraft expansion to make sure this doesn't happen in the future.

I read the title as "...almost hit a kid yesterday". Kept waiting for hitting part, then re-read the title.

Reading comprehension owns me. [Shy]

Good luck getting through the next month.

For all those waiting for GG's bacon, it's worth the wait. [Dinner]

Well I was going to contact you about your renowned bacon, but now that I see that a little thing like child birth can throw you off schedule, I am having second thoughts. What's next, is a little asteroid hitting your house going to stop you? I can't live with that sort of uncertainty looming with my bacon supply.

Best of luck with the new addition to the family, and congrats.

I'm saying you're just delaying our bacon w/ stupid family stuff..

Let's wifey more bacon (don't tell her I said that)

Just kidding. Take care of your stuff.. worry about all our impending blood pressure and heart attacks later.

Fortunately, I'm too far away now to have the bacon influence my thoughts.

I know how nerve wracking it can be when the doc says "NOW!" Both of my kids were early, my daughter was almost 8 weeks early and involved a Life Flight back to Denver from out of state, 5 weeks in the NICU and all sorts of drama. My son was way easier - he was only 4 weeks early and involved the 100 mph drive to the hospital at 6 am on a Sunday.

So here's hoping you and your wife have things go normal!

All of these bacon fiends can wait...do 'em some good. [ROFL1]

Glad everything worked out OK John and that the wife is fine, and thanks for calling me! I appreciate you taking the time and risk while driving frantically to the hospital.
