OK...stupid question.
I'm putting together an AR with a Bushmaster carbine upper in 7.62x39 with a fixed-stock lower.
Will a standard 5.56 rifle buffer and spring work OK with that caliber?
Thanks in advance.

You may need a heavier buffer.

I would think with a standard rifle buffer and spring things would be ok but I would worry with a car setup but that's just my opinion, I'd be more worried about the bolt ;)

Yeah, I've heard the caliber can be hard on AR-style bolts. From what I've read, though, there are some good aftermarket bolts that've solved the issues.
Thanks for your input.

Obviously I have no first-hand experience...but I've read that LMT and Model 1 have good bolts.

Look at the Tubb's springs. I'll bet their AR springs will serve you better for what you are doing than a standard AR spring....I put one in the 6.8 AR I built and I love it (no 'boing' sound when cycling). They are very reasonably priced.... check them out.... I'll be they will some other good advice too.
