Gold plated slide? [Flower]
I'm having a company coat some of my parts in in TiN and TiCN (same stuff on your drill bits & stuff). I just made that up in paint to see what it would look like...

I thought Dewalt tools had a new line of products? [Tooth] I like it Spyder!! But, how does she shoot?

With the coating, it would shoot the exact same. Nothing different in the handling. When I was cutting into my stainless with my 1/4 carbide with a TiN coating, I wondered how a firearm would do with the same treatment. I have used the same drill bit for four Hk's, and three Glocks, oh, and a couple 1911's. I finally got some wear on it with the stainless that I could visibly see. You gota figure, thousands of revolutions per minute, cutting into treated steels, and it held up like a champ... I don't think a gun is going to do much to the finish. I will see though. [Beer] I'm halfway thinking about doing an AR like that...... Halfway...
If it were TiN I'd be all over it. A guy like you could do good in Denver.

I've been told that quite a few times. [Beer] I've had a couple of soft offers for work when I'm done with school from 2 companies in Denver. Lots of people see this web site (something we should all remember).
It will be done in TiN or TiCN (rose mauve color). It will be the real coating and not a paint.
Not digging it so much.
Maybe chrome that sucker?
Although, it does kind of remind me of cheetos. [Coffee]

I've been there, already done something really close to that... Wanted to go a different route... If I don't do the slide in the TiN, I'm doing it in my original idea of Burnt Bronze, with a TiN coated barrel. I think I'll do the weight in Burnt Bronze also.

A buddy of mine had a "race gun" years ago (an STI if I remember correctly) and he had the slide done in some sort of midnight blue finish and had some realistic lightning airbrushed on it. It was pretty sweet.
Different. A little too flashy for my taste though.

That would be cool as HELL!! [Weight]
KEEP YOUR BRANCH OFF THE TRIGGER!

I unload my guns before the pictures. [Beer]
It needs the mag floorplate done too.
I don't think you got the color quite right, but I think it would look cool. If it was paint, I'd say too much, but knowing what the coating is, I think it'd be awesome.

Ya, I tried but the color was still a little off.... It isn't quite so, bright yellow, but more of a golden brown.

Either way. I always look forward to your projects. You do great work.
Did you take into account the base color of the drill bit might be different than the base color of the slide? Wouldn't this effect on the final outcome?

They said no. If I sent it in with the bluing on it, it would turn out the same color as if I sent it in polished up. The sheen matters though on how I polish it or leave it rough.....

Thanks. [Beer]
Set up shop in Juarez, the cartel crowd would go nuts for some custom work!
I think that looks awesome! Do it!
This is what the two coatings I'm talking about look like:
TiN

TiCN

This is what my wife wants me to have her slide on her USP C done in ^ with a TiN barrel.
Those colors are awesome. The bottom one is close to what I would consider "gunmetal."
