Have been considering taking a training coarse for CCW. These guys are currently offering their $150 course for $50. Has anyone taken or know anyone who has taken a course from these guys?

Why the price cut, over priced to start or, training not conducive to cost of class?
With any CCW class what are you getting for your time & money?
A great intro class that went above & beyond what you though it would be. A class the instructor spent more talking about him being a LE / war stories than actually teaching, info, etc?
OR a class that gave you what you needed for the money spent?

Saw that this morning on the news. Guess its a dealchicken thing for $50. I have no need for another class of this sort but I also wondered how they were. Might be good for the wife.

Their website seems to be void of specifics covered by the course, which is only 3 hours long. Would have a real problem spending any more then $50 for 3 hours.

Again, the question is what are you getting for the cost of a class? I agree the web site is very vague in regards to the bang for the buck.

Regardless of cost I don't think a 3 hour course is worth it. Just not enough for what it is.

Guess my question is answered, will look elsewhere. Any suggestions, lots of places to consider.

Oh, and like Jim said there is a reason someone would only charge $50 for a class. I woudl also be suspect of someone dropping their price that much

Isn't it a groupon deal? You can drop your price a lot if it guarantees you more attendance than usual.

This board has what an easy dozen certified firearms instructors? The classes range from 3hrs - a full day, granted $$$$ depends on what you can afford.

The state will accept a hunter safety card,or a DD214, within 10? years. The state does not require a single round be fired either. EVERY gun show one or 2 different places offer CCW classes during the show, again no live fire.

The whole what should be taught, how, who, what, when , where, why's have been beaten to death. How you feel about a 3 hour class, will not be what others agree, or disagree with. At one point i felt the same, based upon what i see and know by all means take a 3hr class. THEN get more training.
Should you attend a class that includes live fire? IMHO, why not, a gun is a tool, like a chainsaw, a dangerous one if you do not know how to operate it safely. However the bottom line is what works best for you? Is a 3 hrs class a good starting place for future education, of course it is.
Not everyone can afford X dollars for a class, ammo for live fire AND the $150ish to apply for the permit.
Sit in a basic class learn something then go from there.
Let your brain be the judge of whether that 3hr lecture or 8 hour lecture, live fire class was what you needed for a start.

EVERYONE ALWAYS learns something from any firearms class they attend be it x hrs to a full week. YMMV.

I'd recommend BluCore- they're really good, and have trigger time... I took an impromptu block of instruction from Eric (one of the owners and a fmr ST6 member), he's great! I plan on taking more classes from him in the near future! [Beer]

In light of expert advice and further research I will be renewing my hunting license, which is more then 10 years old, then applying for CCW. After receiving my license I will then have no problem spending a $150 on an advanced pistol course, as I am more then comfortable with my current pistol fundamentals. And yes Blucore will be my place of study. Signed up for a one year membership two weeks after they opened and nothing but great experiences. The birth of my first kid the only reason I am not currently still a member.
