View Full Version : Boycotting Alice 105.9
Howie is promoting violence against motorcyclists. A boycott of the station and it's advertisers is the response, support if you wish.

To me that looks overblown from what I read... I mean that guy was pretty much just making fun of the idiot motorcyclists that give the rest a bad name..... I don’t really see why "feeling like opening a door on them" would be such a horrid thing.... Did he say: "Now all my listeners you should all kill as many bikers as you can today!" no he did not. Don’t you sometimes feel like rear ending the car in front of you that’s driving like a jerk? Yes it's the exact same thing.... just he was voicing it...... LOL at all those making an issue out of this. You can feel it and voice your pain about idiot drivers, but do you actually do it?
Much like saying violent games and movies cause people to go on horrible murder sprees. Him making idiots look bad and voicing his anger will not make somone actually do it. You'd have to be rightly insane to actually do it.

Some of them sure are noisy. Sometimes I wish I could follow them to their homes, and using some sort of directional speakers, play hours and hours of screaming rabbits towards their house.
Man, in traffic sometimes you just can't get away from that noise. Judging from the sneers on so many faces I have to conclude that they LIKE hurting other people with that horrific "thunder." What a bunch of sociopaths.
They actually spend extra dollars to make these machines louder than when they come from the factory. Go figger...
I"m not defending those that drive like @sshØles or get loud pipes just to piss people off, but I encourage you to spend a weekend or 3 on a motorcycle and see how f'd up people in cars drive.. sure you can see it from your car, but it's a bit different from a MC point of view.
Delphi, here's the short version:
He said he wanted to open his door as a motorcyclist drove by, took calls from listeners, one of which had a motorcyclist in front of her and encouraged her idea to "love nudge" him. The motorcyclist was not being an idiot, he was sitting in traffic like everyone else.
Had he apologized and encouraged safety around someone on a bike, it would have stopped there. The station won't even release copies of the broadcast and claim it never happened.
The amount of motorcyclists killed or severely injured by cars is appalling, encouraging violence against them is what we are trying to stop.

Well I dont know what was actually said but the 9news article said the motorcyclist was driving in the right shoulder passing other traffic.
If that is in fact what happened. I will say if the motorcyclist keeps it up he will get what he has coming to him when the shoulder suddenly runs out or a broken down car is sitting in the shoulder. I have seen it. Guys who drive like that do not need any help killing themselves. I have seen that too.
Not all motorcycle riders drive like that.

By the way guys... I'm not a biker, never even ridden on one, but I've just gotta say something... loud pipes are not usually bought just to "piss people off". They're a safety feature for a vehicle that fits easily in a blind spot, and could very well kill it's driver if sideswiped, as opposed to just incurring some paint damage on an enclosed vehicle. I for one never resent a biker riding next to me with those roaring pipes, because at least he's announcing his presence. I figure it's a fair trade for keeping him safe. Now endlessly revving the monster in your backyard at 2 am... that's a different matter. But in traffic? I say the louder the better.
Free speach is still barely breathing
I understand the whole situation about the road not being the safest place, but really if he did say nudge the guy in front of you that’s driving safly, ok he was wrong on that. Probably shouldn’t have said it, but honestly the fact that these guys may get in trouble for things they say kind of disgusts me. They have rights to speech and to be honest I seriously doubt his free speech hurt anyone. If we start going after every little thing like this, remember the same thing can be applied to other situations. Gun control is probably one of them.... So really lets not just go around trying to hang people for minor mistakes like that. He was probably just trying to entertain and got a little too excited.
All of us have said stupid things, people in the public light just have their stupid views exposed more often.
