I dont know if this is true and highly doubt it. Since bidding process would have been out in the public and I couldn't find anything.

We need to shut down the DHS and sell those at auction. What a great hunting truck, if it had a winch and crane arm.
I'll take one in FDE, and it does have a winch on the front, could probably mount an Elk on that little fold down arm

Considering what they have to deal with on the border I can't say I blame them.
Now if we see them 3 abreast on I25..................

I was hoping for an arm like an M88 for elk. And if you had "Forest Service" on the side, you could drive it anywhere you wanted.
Whew, pass... what's the mpg on those beasts? like 12mpg highway? Can't afford what I drive now, lol.

Something that big... it's gallons per mile.

It's probably gallon per mile rate.
If I had to travel from X to X crossing the cartel routes, I would want one.
If one of my kids was working for ICE or CBP and doing that type of work, I would gladly pay for one for them to have at work.
If it was one of your kids doing that type of work, I would be willing to pay for that.
Would anyone like to debate that working the southern border can be a dangerous place?
I just hope they use these vehicles to make our country safer for the rest of us.
Be safe.

Talk about welfare programs... [Bang]
On the subject of our southern border. We have family friends in the 'security contracting' business. He's talked to our family, out of concern, about calculated % likelihood of the Mexican gov't going bye bye with 5 years. 2 years. 1 year. Before the election. He's a no-nonsense, show me the numbers kind of guy. I took him seriously.
Sad to pay (for the trucks), glad to stay (behind the trucks).

Puts Fast & Furious in another perspective doesn't it?
Hasten Mexico's descent into failed state status and then even right leaning, freedom loving Americans will clamor for DHS to be further militarized.
And I'm sure if they bought 2500 of these things that 1) they won't all stay in the border states and 2) they'll order even more.
^ The calculated numbers of potential crossers he gave us, whether potentially hostile, political refugees, children, were unfathomable. 2500 isn't nearly enough, and probably the wrong tool for the job. Here is a nice graphic to illustrate the point. If 1% of Mexico's 110+ million fine citizens headed our way, that's 1.1 million refugees. One helluva camp.
Edit: Our friend, Mr. S did not say 1%. He guessed more.

I'm also under the impression the weapons from F&F were just a drop in the bucket. The most embarrassing drop in a big big bucket...
I'm bordering on fear mongering here, but the largest refugee camp in the world, Dadaab in Kenya, is approx 500,000 people. I'm sure it's a sad sad place.

I don't know, 2500 seems like an too large of a number to be true...maybe
The border is 1,969 miles long. They don't have enough trucks to do the job.

When you go bust a shipment of cocaine worth a few hundred million dollars on the street, you need protection. They are coming in tunnels, submarines, aircraft you name it! The days of apprehending sophisticated criminals in Chevy Blazers are over. It is a war!
next we'll just be dropping hellfire missiles on em. There'll be gunship camera footage on youtube..

The more likely scenario is for the U.S. to start granting wholesale asylum to anyone headed North across the border.

I was referring to the drug bust comment above mine. This is more likely for the random people coming north.

i hope those antelope and stray cows dont come on my property again. I dont need that sh#$.
Can you hear freedom shrinking? Everyday, it gets sadder and sadder.
If they can use it for surveillance they can use it to put a missile in your lap, just a matter of time.

Would it have been better if the cops had used a Cessna?

DHS is a dangerous entity that should not exist in a constitutional US. Them and alot of other alphabet agencies, my feeling without being overly tin foil hat here is that we will continue to see massive militarization of domestic LE.
People been sayin' all over Twitter that if Obama loses, the riots will begin.

Yeah, I've been hearing the same crap ... of course it comes from the same people that claimed they would shut down Wall Street on May Day and that fizzled out.
Ironically, if Obama wins the war should begin (but won't ... if he wins it proves we're a nation of slaves and cowards and we deserve the destruction that will be brought down upon us).

Sh*t they don't need those to close down the highway, they're doing that on Saturday afternoons with traffic cones no problem.

:)
I was thinking about spare trucks, not sure about reliability.
Watch and see, some drug runner will steal one and start using it for transportation, perfect cover.

Know what will happen? Nothing. Except for a few minor inner cities riots. I think there is a new American Idol starting up soon.
I predict the next riot will occur in the home city of the next World Series/Superbowl/NBA/College Championship game.
Serious question: How many large groups of people party and drink heavily while watching election returns?
Be safe.

A nice mockup with styrofoam armor so it could still go zippy fast wouldn't be such a bad idea :)

That's more than one truck a mile... Almost one per 3/4 a mile...
So, he is cutting down on the defense budget, and bulking up on the interior... It's like he knows he's going to win and is gearing up for what might happen when he does.

I'm accounting for trucks in service, trucks out of service for repair, or trucks out of service because there isn't enough personnel to man the trucks.

What did the Soviet Union do? Did they have a huge infrastructure designed to control their subjects? Stalin had the advantage of a population weakened by years of war with the Germans, the Russian citizens couldn't resist Stalin. Obama has no such advantage, in fact being the world's greatest gun salesman Obama has set himself up for failure.

There is nothing I take more seriously than plans made on Twitter.
