Went to Uncles house today as yesterday was his 74th birthday. Walked in and saw a man 60 pounds lighter than when I saw him last 4 months ago. Hit me like a ton of bricks as I had no idea. (I am a little pissed about that but its not about me is it). Actually I am mad at my self for being upset that they did not tell anyone and kept quiet about it.

Stage 4 kidney and stomach and esophagus is what they told me in non technical terms.

The last of my relatives on my fathers side in the state. Hope I get a couple of months of quality time in with him.

He ran that car out at Erie (I think he said) and all over Kansas. Rebuilt that one and several others in his home garage.

Spend as much quality time as you can and tell him everything you have ever wanted to.
Try and take him to do his favorite activities if he physically can do them. This will mean teh world to everyone
at the event.

Can you share a quick synopsis of his life for those of us who dont know him?

I would like to hear a touch too, I used to work the Lakeside track and Erie when it was a dirt track. Who knows, I may have met the gentleman.
Short track IS racing at its best and some of the guys were real "unique"

I used to work the Lakeside track

I live 2 blocks south of Lakeside. While I dislike what has become of the place now, I do miss the sounds of the track that I used to hear in the evenings. I remember going to a race there once or twice myself. One stray match and that place would go up in flames now.

As to the descriptive essay of my Uncle I will ponder the task a little and report back.

But basics, grew up on farm in Brighton, which is now well within the current city proper. Moved to Mountain View (just south of Lakeside amusement park for those not familiar with that speed trap) Middle school drop out. Drafted into Army served in Germany with Elvis Presley. (Unsure if exact same unit or just something attached to it (said it was the best chow hall an food in Germany at the time due to Elvis). Self employed in many areas. Owned a typewriter repair shop on 38th and Harlan area for many years. Self employed handy man, self taught Jeweler and quite good at it til his shaking hands made him quit. Very good at building cars as the picture represents. Basic description would just be everyones favorite Uncle.

I just lost my father to cancer last weekend. ( I had posted in team on Arfcom about it ).
He too kept it quiet as he found about it in may and we all found out about it in late august. Stage 4 lung, liver, spine, hips and brain.

He started agressive treatment at the presuasion of my step mother and it was ALL down hill from there. In two months he quit eating due to the side effects of chemo and radiation and went from 180 to 115 lbs.

He didnt even make it two months from the time we found out.
Luckilly I got some very good quality time with him while we had him and he passed on 10/13/12 with us beside him in his house and off everything but pain meds and Im thankfull for that! At least in the end he didnt suffer

Seeing my mother die at 20 didnt even prepare me for how bad I was during his last two days with us.

Fuck Cancer
Fuck Chemo
Fuck Radiataion
