The wife and some of her friends are going to the 13th Floor tonight and my wife talked me into going with them.

I hate scary stuff.

At least I will have five or six women to protect me. [Awesom]

In my youth (I was about 18/19 years old) I worked at the main haunted house at Eliches (2004/2005) and haunted houses don't scare me anymore, mainly because I could see just how fake they were... Remember that it's a bunch of potentially drunk people in costumes trying to scare the bejezus out of you and you'll be just fine... [Beer]

13th Floor is all about startling the rubes, nothing particularly scary or creepy. Interesting visual effects though. If it helps, just keep in mind that they can't actually touch you.

I worked in a couple of haunted houses when I was in high school. The best/scariest thing we did was "plant" a girl in the groups as they went through(usually the one that could scream the loudest/most convincingly), and "abduct" her somewhere near the end... scared the living ratshit out of folks...

We all pretty much know how Haunted House affects works.

That what happens to me, I can't really help it just a reaction so I just don't go to those types of places.

Back to the subject-I went to school with Chris and Greg Reinke who are the guys in Littleton that run a prop store and put on a couple of good haunted houses. These guys have had a knack for this stuff since elementary school, go see what they put together.
Good stuff.

You NEED to go online ASAP and get VIP passes if you want to go to this. That takes you to the head of the line with no waiting. Get there EARLY and pay for parking. Trust me on this.

A few months ago I was talked into going to that same place the weekend before Halloween and I was so scared I left without even going inside. Let me tell you why:

There was a mob of well over 10,000 people outside, most of them under 25, a few hundred were obvious thugs there with their girlfriends. Everyone was upset and pissed off because there was no orderly line, no security, and no staff members in sight.

I talked to some people at the end of what looked like a "line" (10 people wide, 500 feet long, with people cutting in and arguing) and was told that these were the people who already had tickets and there was at least a 2 hour wait. If I did not have a ticket I needed to fight through an unruly mob and have an additional 4 hour wait if I wanted to get to the ticket booth. We left and went to two other haunted houses that were not quite as bad, but still had a 3+ hour wait for a 20 minute walkthru. We decided to do that another year.

The following year we got VIP passes online, which I think were only $5 more than buying tickets at the booth. We paid for parking, and I walked directly up to the cop handling security and told him we had VIP passes. We went in a VIP entrance and the line only had about 20 people in it, and that is what you need to do too.

They did not wand or frisk anyone, but there is a rule against using flashlights inside, so be aware of that. Your greatest risk will probably be the walk back to your car afterwards.

We got the VIP passes. We'll see how that goes. I think the plan is to meet there at 7:00 so hopefully we can get in and out of there before all of the 20-something crowd shows up.

I'll definitely make sure I wear some Depends... just in case. [Awesom]

Well, I made it back. Wasn't as bad as I thought. Turned out there was six of us there. Two guys and four women. They took a vote and decided I should take point and lead. That was all fine and dandy but I am blind as a bat in the dark. Fortunately, there is a part where we had to go in an elevator so when we went in I was first in and last out which suddenly put the other guy in our group in the lead. Probably a good thing too. At one point, he stepped through a doorway and a zombie popped up right in his face and surprised the hell out of everyone. Especially him.

Anyways, we were out of there by 7:30 before it got crowded and went and had dinner and drinks. A good time was had by all. Even me.

Best Haunted House I ever did was a corn maze. We must have been in there for close to 40 minutes. We were never lost, as that was impossible. When we got to the half-way point, we thought it was the end, and that it was the longest haunted house ever. Turns out we were only half-way done.
