I hike almost daily in the open space around my home in Jeffco. Recently signs were posted restricting all kinds of activities (dogs on leash, etc) including "no firearms".

I have always legally carried there because of wildlife issues (mountain lions and coyotes, both of which I have seen) and, more importantly, loose dogs which I come across with disturbing frequency.

I question if the county Open Space folks have a legal right to prohibit my legal CCW and can find no authority in state staute. This is public, not private, land.

Anyone have an answer to this?

Any state, county or city owned property that is posted means you can not open carry. You are 100% legal to carry concealed I do it all the time. By law they can only regulate open carry not concealed carry. Unless of course they wish to secure the area and have metal detectors at every entrance.

If you have a valid permit carry all you wish. ;)

Many thanks... that's what I figured but I appreciate the input!
