Last couple of weeks have been trying. So how many that ply the boards have friends or have met members on a state to state basis?

Me? I travel and over the years I have made friends with many in the shooting community. 5 years ago a member of the Fal Files stopped his chemo to drive to NM from PA to be at falfest. He died the next year.

One of the mods there that lived where I grew up died last year after we had planned a meeting when I went back home.A members daughter that had been at the two first Falfest in 06 and 07 making signs when she was 12 has passed away in a car wreck last weekend.

I found out today that a member there that I had always seen passed away a few days ago from cancer. I stopped by 2 months ago when I was back home but he did not answer the door. Those that own Fal's know of the "gilllee" mod for feeding and ejection.

I guess what I am trying to say that this old net has made the world smaller. When ya have a friend that may be miles away and you care about them keep in contact. Randy moved and although I Had an address he never got back online. I caught him last year but missed him two months ago. One of those guys that built his own .50 cal gun.

Just some thoughts.

Sorry for your losses.

Definitely easy to say hi "online" but in person is much better and spending time with people is a whole lot better than typing it out. I know I have some family I need to go see. My grandparents haven't met my son yet because they won't leave the farm in IL and I haven't had to time to get out there for them to meet their only great grandchild.

If it wasn't for the Net, I'd be in touch with a lot fewer friends and family. The way my job is, I'm only home 2 months out of every 5 and even those 2 are 60+ hour weeks.

Having said that, nothing replaces actually seeing your friends in person.

Besides the "gillee" mods, WESCOG took form on the old falfiles too.
I've met more through arfcom and GT than FF, but been out of the 30 cal / FN game an easy 12 yrs now.

I've met many a freind over the years on the boards. Some of them I see on a regular basis and some I call rather frequently.
With all of them it's hard to stay in touch due to the milage between us and the lack of time to keep up.But I usualy try to give a check in at least once a month.

I never had any of my online bud's pass away but I know how you feel.So many so little time...
My thoughts and prayers to all lost..

"gilllee" is gone??
WTF????
That really stings, he had a totally unique way of him and his language style is unforgettable.
Makes me sad.
RIP Gilllee[Beer]
