First he's the savior, now this. I am so tired of hearing about what a great man Obama is. Now Ancestry.com claims Obama is descended from the first documented slave in America's history.
Sorry...color me skeptical. I don't believe this nonsense for a minute. Next thing you know we're going to hear that he's descended from Mary like Jesus Christ himself.
Tuesday can't come fast enough. I really would like this guy to become a sad footnote in American history as soon as possible.

This came out a while back. There is no direct proof just a possibility since there is no proof. Much like a lot of todays inner city and trailer park kids. They don't know who they come from and their mothers barely have a clue.

so what we've learned here is that Ancestry.com's "genealogists" were apparently denied access to the prestigious DeVry institute and garnered said skills from an offshore "university" located far enough off the coast of Miami to grant degrees to anyone for $49.95.
And how long have white people been slaves? No offense, but everyone focuses on on one races slavery. Hell, I want my free stuff because I'm part German...had ancestors that were once slaves.

Context yes, but that's oversimplifying things, don't you think? Do you not think that the atrocities committed in the past towards the Jewish people also have helped shape us... America is a melting pot, and I paid attention to my heritage and care about where my family came from overseas just as much as the formation of this nation. And while yes I do think people care about the other atrocities, try asking your average black American which was worse: US Slavery, or the genocide of non-Muslims in Turkey?

I guess it depends on how you read it. Wood pile represents family tree you have cut down and are about to burn, family you want to deny. But the truth is if you have family that has been in the south more then 3 generation then there is something like a 99% chance you had a family member that was a slave. I don't deny my past and embrace that history. I just think it funny and sad that others use it to further their agendas. I think it more racist to use this history as a way to get ahead in life. Buy selling yourself as a descendant of a slave you are having others judge you not by your character, but by the color of your skin.

Let me just add that I wasn't watching this thread as closely as I should have - if it gets unlocked I will be watching it closely.
The staff, and especially ME among them will not tolerate any racist crap on this site. In the recent history of this site we've banned members for that behavior.
Our membership is very diverse and I can't think of one race that isn't represented here.
I've met many members of this site of various races and national origins and I have yet to encounter even one member that I disliked or took issue with. Everyone I've met from here is just plain "good people".
Anyone starts spitting racist crap and they're offending my friends and I will not sit idly by and allow that to occur.
I'm a Missouri Ozark Hillbilly where anyone who wasn't white was described in my parts with unpleasant epithets. Given MY origins, if I can be accepting of all races, none of the rest of you have any excuse why you can't also.
