Just moved to Wheat Ridge, near Berkeley Park. Looking for a good auto mechanic in the area. Competent, thorough, experienced with imports (especially Subaru and Honda), and won't try to scam my wife or otherwise act like a horse's ass.
Recommendations appreciated!

Depending on what needs done I can help you, and so can Chris (tmleadr03) but I am down south in Englewood. My shop does not really do street cars as much anymore, but always happy to help out a member of the "community" if we can.

Aurora or Englewood aren't entirely out of the question, and a good shop is certainly worth a bit of a drive; but given my druthers I'd be looking within an area roughly bounded by Federal, Wadsworth, I-70, & Colfax.
One of my tests is to have my 90-lb wife ask them a question; if they tell me the answer instead of her, we go somewhere else. To me that's equally as important as them doing good work.
It took me most of a year to find someone in Longmont I really liked (Mark and Steve at Carworks). Hoping to speed up that process in the new town. :)
Thanks all for the input!

Isn't Berkley Park in Denver?
I have to vote for tmleadr03 as well! He came to my house on the hottest friggin' day of the year, fixed the blend door actuator on my Silverado that had been broken since I got it in 2004, saved me like, $300 over Chevy's quote, and did the work in my driveway. I've still never met the man, but damn, it's nice having heat and AC that works like it should!

I have heard nothing but good about tmleader3, but have no experience with him. Also check out FTAR(Factory Trained Auto Repair) in Westminster, Chris and his guys do great work.

West side , lakeside amusement park area, fair amount of groovy old homes too.
IIRC, There is a shop at 38th & Harlan that is pretty good. I get all my work done in Denver now, but I've used them twice before a few years back. They were AAA approved and had great reviews.

+1 on Chris at FTAR. He does all my repair work that I can't do myself. I heard a rumor that he is moving to a bigger location but I don't think he has pulled the trigger on that yet.

The Lake in the Amusement Park is Lake Rhoda, Berkley is across Sheridan in Denver. Just making a point of it because there are already two of us in the area myself and Bellavite1.
As to the OP's question, I have been using Wheat Ridge Muffler and Brake for 8 years and have never had any issues. They are on 38th and Kipling and worth checking out anyway.

I have heard that tmleadr03 is pretty good with the Subarus but doesn't have that much experience with the Hondas.
I have also used WR Muff at 38/Kipling. Did great for me.

For Honda go to Gaylords. They are the best and very honest.

An untrained Monky can work on a Honda.. They're nothing to be afraid of. [Coffee]

Thanks for all the recommendations, all. This definitely saves me some footwork!

True enough. But being new to the area, my knowledge of landmarks and such is still pretty minimal. I figure everyone knows where Berkley Park is, and Tennyson is a neighborhood focal point for me anyway!

This.
And Mrs. Centrarchidae can get the same bill, and the same straight answers from him, even when I'm not there.
