I was wondering if any of you know of , have used, or know someone who has used an attorney with experience with Colorado firearms statutes. I'm looking for a friend of mine who, as I understand it, was questioned about something close to ten years ago when he was a minor, but was never charged , let alone convicted, and when he try's to complete a cbi check he cannot. Cbi has told him that some paperwork needs to be filed by a attorney or something to sort it out. I'm unsure of the details but I am just trying to help him out and I said I know of a place (coar15 forum) where I might be able to find some one with exp in these matters. So if any of you know of some one that I can but him in touch with, that'd be great, with how expensive attorneys are i want him to find someone who knows what they are doing and not some random inexpierenced guy that going to charge him an arm and a leg while trying to figure out what needs to be done. thanks guys. Feel free to pm me.

Sounds like he needs a criminal defense attorney to help him get an arrest or other charge resolved from his record. That's not really firearm specific issue.

Have your friend obtain the legal records of the disposition of the case. If there is a document signed by a judge dismissing the case, present that to CBI. Make sure you make copies, don't send the original copy. The legal record will be kept at the court house where the case was tried. CBI may require that the record be authenticated by a "Notary Public". Main thing is communicate with CBI and produce what they require under state law to clear your background. Only a pardon can clear a felony conviction in Colorado.

Didn't read all the posts but if it's handgun related legal services you need the NRA has a wonderful list of attorneys in the state that are approved. This is one of the few services the NRA provides that I find helpful. Check 'em out and call a couple close to you and use who you feel most comfortable with.
